I used to feed my bunnies on Burgess excel rabbit nuggets, then in the pet shop i noticed another good brand of bunny food for £2.99 cheaper called Wagg optimum rabbit nuggets, and i have started feeding my bunnies it, i slowly swapped the food over for about 9 days. I know it's lower in fibre than excel but my bunnies only get pellets every other day and only in small handfuls, so would it actually make a difference? Or should i swap back to excel? :)

Nutritional values of Wagg - Protein 13.5%, Fat Content 4.5%, Crude Fibre 17%, Crude Ash 7%, Calcium 0.7%, Phosphorous 0.5%.

Burgess Excel - Crude Fibre 19% Protein 13% Ash5.5% Calcium 0.9% Phosphorous 0.51%

I'm not from the UK, but I sometimes go on a UK rabbit forum and I've read many posts there that say Wagg Optimum isn't great (it's okay but there are better pellets) and to go for either Excel or Alan and Page Natural :)

Purely looking at the two listed, I would go with Burgess Excel due to the higher fiber and lower protein.

Dana Krempels, a renowned rabbit researcher, recommends the following:
  • * at least 22% crude fiber
    * no more than approximately 14% protein
    * about 1% fat
    * about 1.0% calcium.
