Since late June we have had the pleasure ofwatching three wild Rabbits (brown in color) in our backyard; theirhome appeard to be under our Shed. Indeed, we've kept them flush incarrotts, lettuce, etc. It got to the point that prior to leaving forwork in the morning we'd leave a half dozen carrots outside and whenwe'd come home from work there wouldn't be so much as a snippet left.

It's been about two weeks now and they have virtually vanished...only one shows up very sporadically.

Have they left to go hibernate somewhere? This really has us puzzeledas they were always around and would, it seemed, be waiting for us tocome home and replenish their stock.

If it helps, we live about 30 miles North of Boston, so we're not in the City, per se.

Thanks!

Welcome pastelmotifs,

Hard to say where they went.

I hope they weren't found by another animal. Perhaps they will show uptogether again. Not knowing how old they were, perhaps they lived afull life and it was their time.

I hope they come back.

They were relatively young, to the extent that anyone can guess how old they are from a distance. One was definitely a baby.

Since we're not 'in the woods' per se I doubt another animal such as aFox, et al, got them. I was wondering though if perhaps they headsomewhere during the Fall. Indeed, for the last two weeks they werehere they ate non-stop. Btw, is this a normal trait for Rabbits? E.g.,will they keep eating until the food is gone or will they stop whenfull?

Thanks!

Rabbit's don't hibernate in the winter. Just so you know.

I don't know why they would stop coming to get food, hopefully a preditor didn't find them.

Our neighbor has had baby bunnies a few times andsfter they leave the nest you usually see them for maybe a day or twothen you don't see them anymore. I think that they just gooff and find their own places to live. Thats just what ithink. Robert

My son is 6'5", 305 pounds. And he just turned 19. So yourtheory re Teenage Boys might perhaps be rather correct.

Now, if I can get him into Pro Football I should be able to retire in five years... :)

Hmpf...I thought some species did. Thanks for the info.

I just hope some other animal didn't get them. But it's hard to imaginethat all of them would have been taken. They just...stopped comingaround. One was here today but only for a few moments.

We really got used to these little guys (girls?) hanging around. They're quite comical.

You do know that birds eat 1 1/2 times their weight in food every day, right? ;)

I think you mean you eat like my cat: picky ;)

I am not a teenager anymore for some time, but I still eat a lot. I usually eat more than my husband.

I eat like a pig! :)

Anyway, I had wild rabbits in my yard but sadly Cooter (the neighbours dog) ate them.
