We adopted our first rabbit, a Dutch female, Miss Fiona Whiskers, from the animal shelter on Aug. 4th. We were origionally planning to get 2, and put her in with 2 others we liked, one at a time. The first girl she didn't get along with, though she seemed kind of okay with the boy. But neither of the other ones we liked had been altered yet, she had been already. We think she's relatively young, maybe about a year, but they didn't know for sure. Now, my question is, would it be better to get a second rabbit soon, or wait a while? They said we could bring her with us to pick out a buddy. I know that I've already seen a number of pictures of buns on the website that I would take home right now, I'm just wondering what would be best for her and the other rabbit (most likely a him.) Just a side note, the rabbits must be altered before we can take them home, she was already, and so would the new rabbit.

Having both rabbits fixed is the most important step, but that's already taken care of!

Bonding can be easy or hard. Some buns will bond within a matter of days, and others it takes months.

Lots of patience, and I would suggest reading up on the bonding section of the Bunny101 section, found here: http://www.rabbitsonline.net/view_topic.php?id=12072&forum_id=17

I don't think waiting will make a difference. But take your time preparing for the new bun, and you always have to be prepared to have seperate cages and seperate play times in case the buns don't bond.

Good luck!
