i already have a dwarf lop cross bailey , who is male and around 8 months old , hes not neutered yet but i am going to have him done , he seems a bit depressed and lonely so want to get him a friend but not sure which sex is best to bond him with

Get him neutered as soon as you can, and give him a little time to recover. Then the best thing you can do, if you have a rabbit rescue in your area, is find him a nice spayed female. Neutered males and spayed females generally make the best pairing - not that other pairs can't be bonded too, but a male and female usually bond relatively easier. :) Some rescues allow you to take him in to meet the other rabbits, and see if there are any he clicks with right away. And some may even do the bonding for you. :D Good luck!

I would suggest that after you get him neutered to get another neutered male rabbit. Then you should start the bonding process. Look up Rabbit Bonding on Google and you will probably find alot!:D
Course I don't know much!

I am in the same boat as you I am thinking about get a friend for Teddy but I am not sure to get a male or female. I get mixed reviews on which to get. I have heard from the vet that a male maybe better, because females are a little bit more moody.;)You know us females were all about the moodyness.lol Anyways good luck maybe you can have him hang out with the males at the rescue place and then see how he does and then see how he does with the females. I dont know just an idea. I am sure you will get some good sound advice from someone on the board.

Good Luck:D

Easiest bonding is definately male/ female. You can bond male to male but its harder as there can still be some dominance issues.

I would get a nice little girl for him Just remember that he needs a good month after the neuter before he is sterile :)

I would also say male/female is easiest, although if you can take him on bunny "dates" to let him pick his own friend, that would be great. But like Polly said, he will have to be neutered for a while first. Four weeks will make him unable to impregnate a doe, but if you wait more like six or eight weeks it might be easier because he will be less likely to leap on a doe and start humping her. :p
