I have a lady friend of mine that bred Gwenyth, my broken Opal mini rex doe and she's sellign quite a few of her, I know she's seperating from her husband and what not. I emailed her back with prices, pictures, and details on what rabbits

And On to Whelping boxes.

I have several whelping boxes that my brother made, I don't have the demensions off hand, but they are a bit large for my dutch, perfect sized for my english spots and my velveteen Lops but they are too small for the New Zealands to raise a litter. THe ones that the Vlops fit in Trisha(New Zealand) can get in the box adn turn around, but the babies are 10 days old and they take up almost half the box floor. I'm afraid she's going to squish them hopping in and out. .

ANyone out there that raise New Zealands or Californians, I know the Cali's are about the same size as teh New Zealands. What size whelping boxes do you have? I know I make mine out of 1/4 inch plywood.

Here's the babies, just for ya'll to see.

The kits should have more than just a blanket/towel on the bottom of the nest box. They need a lot of bedding such as straw, grass hay, sugar cane shavings, aspen shavings, or kiln dried pine shavings.

Nesting material not only keeps the kits warm which is crucial, but allows them to safely burrow into a spot in which the doe cannot accidently strample them.

Usually a nest box should be about 1 1/2 times the size of the doe.

The kits should start to gradually come out of the box between 10 and 14 days old.

The towel's only for a picture, the nest has shavings in teh bottom straw and some hay with tons of fur so I heat up a towel to put them on for pictures. I was just looking for a better box size so I can make her, her own. as each of my does has their own according to their size.

I'll email my friend who raises Harlies. Shes got some huge does. And you can play around and add an inch or more for the NZ.

I'll reply once she emails me.

and I dunno if this will help, my last litter of harlies were born in a bush beer box. Should be the same size as any 24pack of pop. It was a bit big, but it may work size wise for the cals and nz
