Hey everyone. I'm sorry if this has been postedbefore but I have a question. My rabbit doesn't like to be picked up.When you try to he struggles until you put him down. Also, when you goover to his cage he usually runs over to the corner where you can'tpick him up. He bit me today when I picked him up. Does anyone know whythis could be?

Some rabbits just don’t like being picked up,take one of my Holland lops instance; she LOVES to run around theliving room and loves to have her head scratched! BUT...when we have topick her up she scratches and nips. Some rabbits are afraid of heights, some just don’t like the feeling of being off the ground. With sometime and patience maybe she will tolerate being picked up. :)

This has been covered before, I'll try to findsome links for you. But basically, a lot of rabbits don'tlike being picked up. It has to do with the fact that rabbitsare inherently prey animals and so being picked up, by you or a bird ordog or other predatory animal is the same to them.

I don't know if I explained that very well....I know someone explainedit well somewhere...I'll try to find it and post a link for you here. :)

Both my monkeys, are the same way!

They LOVE all the attention you can give them AS LONG AS THEY ARE FIRMLY ON THE GROUND! LMBO!:p

Maybe with some time,

Monkeys!:)

My little mini rex is the same way. He cowers ina corner like he knows I'm about to pick him up, even if I'm beingfriendly. Like the rest said, rabbits hate heights, and ifyou pick him up more often and give him good rewards (like healthytreats!), they'll learn to tolerate it! Good luck!
