So Blossom has been pooping all over her cage at night. During the day she will use the litter box. She is more active at night when we are sleeping and when I get up there is poop all over her cage!! Whats up with that. This just started a couple of days ago. Thank god I dont see pee. Mindy

No she is not old enough. She was 4 months old this Monday. I wanted to wait until she was at least 6 months. I have seen too many friends rabbits not comming through spays the last couple of months. I will just keep cleaning the poop!!

Maybe you should make that 5 1/2 months.

But is it the same animal hospital/vet doing the spays of the animals that don't make it? If so, ...

I would say that this is territorial behavior, to solve this she need to be fixed as soon as she's old enough! Not to scare you but I have so major horror stories of the before he was fixed times like the time he climbed in my bed and not only pooped all over it but sprayed my bed and feet as well. He was about 6 months old when I took him to be fixed, it was the best money I've ever spend.

Good Luck

Hormones do terrible things to bunny minds. I'm sure once Blossom has been spayed her potty habbits will get better. It made a HUGE difference with my kids.

Last night Becky had to go to the vet. They had a couple emergencies, so she was in the carrier or held for about 3 hours round trip. I had gotten her out from under the dresser, so I'm not sure when she visited the litter box before we left. When we got home I put the box down and opened the door. Normally she hops out taking her time. Last night she practically pushed the door open and bolted to her litter box for a nice long pee. I could just hear her say Ahhhh.

I promise it will get better. :wink

As long as you don't mind cleaning up all the messes for the time being, I think waiting is wise-especially if you're warry about your bunny coming through it all right. I think spaying takes alot more out of does than neutering the bucks.

Get her spayed as soon as your vet recommends, a month isn't going to make a difference in terms of surgery. And we've all heard stories, but unless its your vet that has been dropping the ball, there's really no sense in waiting.
