I've been a member of RO since November and I've read a lot of objective posts for the most part, but now I'm finding there to be so much interesting chatter between the mods and some of the VIP/frequent members of RO! It's got me so curious:

- How long has RO been around?
- How did it start out? What was it like?
- Are all the Mods friends in real life outside of the site? Do you talk to each other often?

The forum runs so smoothly that I'm thinking it must be a lot of work, but it looks effortless to most members. I wonder what happens "behind the scenes" :)

Here's a good starting point for you: http://www.rabbitsonline.net/view_topic.php?id=11857&forum_id=14

If you were to ask some veterans what it was like at the beginning, they'd probably describe it as an elegant dinner party, with charming conversation, and deep intellectual discussions.
(Some would tell you that's it's more like a frat party now :biggrin2:)

As for Mod relationships, hmmm... I've never had the pleasure of meeting anyone outside of the site myself. I've had a few lovely phonecalls with a couple of mods & a few members... and of course, some very supportive PMs when I've been struggling from many wonderful people.

The forum runs so smoothly in no small part due to all its members at work on the board... I'm sure you can take a brief look at any thread, and see the many who contribute so much of their time and energy to providing compassionate advice, making up wonderful games, finding the facts, doing technical magic, etc...

Someone who's been here longer than I have would be better at answering these questions, Helen...

I am a middle time person I guess. I came in after the first board but before Buck Jones passed away.

I was gone for awhile working with a friend on her board and enjoying my kids.. then I came back when PIPP refurbished the forum.

I have only met a couple of people from here and those people aren't around much anymore.... but I truly feel close to so many people here who have supported me in moments of terrified bunny Mommyness! I cannot convey the seriously helpful times I have had and know of with others here.

I don't think I've ever been around so many people with such kind and caring personalities. We're blessed. That's pretty much what I think....

It was around long before I joined, but it still continues as it does now. People are drawn to the site because we all share a common interest, in bunnies, family and life. There is a bond between members as we get to know each other, even whenwe haven't had the pleasure of meeting one another. It's the willingness of all members new and oldwho share their experiences and knowledge to help others, that make this forum so special.

Behind the scenes ... we are having one big party.

I don't think I'd say that all of the mods are friends in real life....but many are. But you have to understand...sometimes that just happens because there are times when we need to discuss issues..like "Did I come across ok?" or "How should we handle this?" - and we just wind up becoming closer.

As time goes on and we get to know each other better - we may find we "click" with someone and call each other or email each other or even send mail to each other to encourage each other.

Then again - I've had the same type of relationships with some of the forum members too...it is something that just happens as we're on the forum over a period of time.

"Behind the scenes..." - ah - that is interesting. One neat thing is that we all bring our very different perspectives and experiences to the mix...to hopefully produce a well-balanced forum that meets the needs of our members.
