Is it necessary? I have a condo with stick tile floor - Peaches has his litter box (Runestonez litter) so it has a plastic grate on top and I often find him flopping in there or on the cardboard shelf. What is the bedding used for and is necessary for all bunnies ? It seems like this would go flying all over the place and make a huge mess to clean up. Is it used in the litterbox?

Most bedding can be used as litter for bun's litter box, and as a soft surface to line the bottom of bun's cage. I have had others tell me that if you want your bun to be litter box trained, it is best not to put bedding in the bottom of the cage because it can confuse the bunny and he won't know where he is supposed to go potty. A fabulous suggestion I got, is to take soft material and put in the bottom of the cage. What I find works best are inexpensive fleece baby blankets. I put regular litter in his box, and in the bottom of his cage I put a fleece baby blanket folded to the size of the bottom of his cage. He seems to really like it, it is soft and if it gets dirty it can be tossed in the washing machine. Another thing I use is a rug I bought that fits perfectly inside the bottom of his cage. He likes to dig carpet anyway and this rug is made of carpet material. So that is a suggestion too. I would definately provide the bunny with some sort of comfortable surface to snuggle up on, even if it's an old bath towel. It gives them a break from grid floors if your cage has that, which can lead to sore hocks. Good luck!! :)
