We probably have had a thread like this before - but I'll start a new one anyway...

What would you dream house be like? Would it be wood? brick? stone?

A castle? a Victorian? a cottage?

Where would it be?

My dream house would be a stone grist mill - the floors would be hardwood (except for one tiled room for the bunnies). There would be floor to ceiling windows on the side that looks out onto the water and the grist mill...and a stone patio out there too.

For those who don't know what a grist mill is...here are some pictures..

While not all of these pictures are stone...they do show the water wheel...

My bedroom window would be in such a place that it was near the water - so I could always hear it running...

So - what is your dream house like?

Oh! I love the sound of waterfalls! I think that'd be so awesome!
I also love the smell of rain.

My dream house would be have Geothermal Heating and Cooling and it'd be powered by solar panels (green much? :p)

I also think it'd be neat to have "Shelves" built right into the wall. They'd be big enough to hold different size fish tanks where I'd keep my gerbils.

I'd also have a room just for my rabbits.
And my whole house would be rabbit proof so they could have at least some free run of the house!

Hmm I know there's more but that's all I can think of right now!

Oh! I'd love to have a beautiful flower garden all around my house. :) I love flowers.

EDIT: hehe Can you tell I love my animals? :biggrin2:

I want what we call a character villa here in NZ. I LOVE this style of (older) house, I think they are perfect.

I'd love one with high ceilings, polished floors, a large fireplace in the living room and a rambling cottage garden.

Here's some examples of the front of character villas. Most of these are really old for NZ, around 100 years old. They can be really expensive though, one with sea views can be over a million bucks , even though they are funny little things and usually only have a couple of bedrooms. Often one room is converted to a bathroom or laundry room so usually leaves two bedrooms.

There is this house in the village that I am in love with. Its MASSIVE, must be like six bedrooms or so, but its HUGE. I like it because its different too, its all white with lovely wrought iron fences.

If not, I'd love to live in my Grandparents house. Maybe if we inherit it I can become rich and buy it off my own family. I'm so jealous that my Mum got to live here when she was younger!

I love these American-style houses, when ever we watch any American tv programme and these type of houses come on my mam always goes on about how much she loves them, we don't have houses like that here

My dream house? a little cottage on a 2000 acre peice of land (anything less is a disgrace to falconry lol ;) ) with a few barns and just flat land all the way round, we dont have to own the land just want it on some land I can fly the hawks on. I always said when I am older I am going to work with farmers and have them adopt me :p hehe.

Like Michelle a lovely old partially restored villa so theres a wee bit to do on it. I would be right by the sea and within a 10min drive there'd be a lovely huge mountain with multiple lifts. There'd be a whole room dedicated to bunnies, It would have a big kitchen with dark stained rimu wood, and a fireplace in every bedroom:biggrin2:

Lol Michelle you can clean litter trays for me:p Actually there's some really cheap ones in places like Gore, Ruapehu and Wanganui but I don't think any of us would want to live there! Maybe some house relocating is needed!

Peg, I like the grist mills but they're so damp!

I would like something like this with a nice all season room off the back for my bunnies and I. I want a mudroom, and a nice barn - enough to house the horses and some sheep/goats. I'd love an indoor riding arena or at least a covered one!

About 15 acres or so......

I love houses! I like to get out graph paper and draw floor plans on occasion :baghead My ideal house would be 2 stories with 4 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms, and a combination of hardwood floors and slate floors (slate in the bathrooms and kitchen where water damage would be more likely). It would have a decent sized well insulated sun room with lots of windows and the ceiling entirely glass, but with curtains to cover the windows at night. I would keep all my plants in there an it would have a pretty iron gate in the doorway to keep the bunnies out :nod

I thought it would be nice to have a bunny room, but honestly, I like to have all my pets out in the living room where I can see them all the time! I would like to build an alcove of sorts off of the living room for the bunnies to live in uncaged. There would be a fence with a gate separating it from the living room, and have sliding doors so it could be closed off completely if necessary. That way the bunnies could have their own room but I could still see them!

Those are the main things I want really.

Is it wrong that we would design our house to have special space for our bunnies? LOL!

:embarrassed:We would atleastfour rooms. One for Elvis (and possible friend and Wyatt where it could be split in half ala Angela.:hyper:Than One for Ringo and Apple. Hopefully just one open room for the two if not split. Than one for Teresa free on one half and the guinea pigs and what ever other small animals on the other side. The the trio one alone.

I am going to draw up something...:craziness

LOL! I want an all season room with ceramic tile floors and 1/3 up the walls (easy to clean and Bo likes to pee!)

I'd have a tv up in the corner (not just for me, they all love tv) and furniture that they couldn't chew and removeable cushions so they could be free and I could take the cushions off cause...... Bo likes to pee. :?

I'd want some windows I could open on beautiful days but the crank out kind so they would be safe. Maybe some blinds IN the glass so they couldn't chew them.

That room would be completely safe for them. I'd even have a half wall to separate them from the outside door/rest of the house. THey'd all have their NIC cages but each would have time out and an area to themselves (I'd use a dog playpen or something to separate them as needed)

THEN, I'd also have a bunny house! Like a small barn with a/c and heat for MORE bunnies to add to my family :)
