Hi,

I'm interested to know what type of lop my William is, can anyone tell me?

Thankies! x

He's either a Holland or a Mini, or cross of the two.

He looks like a baby. When he has reached his full adult weight, you'll have a better indication.

Minis average six pounds and Hollands only four.

Pinksalamander,

Are you from the UK? The lop breeds are different in your neck of the woods ;)

You might have a Miniature Lop (Mini Lop). The UK Dwarf Lop is slightly larger than the UK Mini Lop.

(See breed standards on this site http://www.thebrc.org/breeds.htm)

The color looks like a Beige Butterfly. (Are the eyes blue-gray or dark brown?)

He looks like a dwarf lop to me. His nose looks too long for a miniature lop and he has very long ears. A side on pic would be helpfull too.

I don't know if the colours have similar names where you are, but he would be a broken sooty fawn here In New Zealand, which I am fairly sure has the same types of rabbits as the UK (Pam would know more about that than me - I am hopeless with that sort of information). Looks like his 'grey' bits are blue-ish.

He's very sweet! His eyes must be a pretty colour. I have some baby rabbit for sale that look very similar.

A butterfly sooty fawn would be the same as our broken tort in the US. I believe Pinksalamander's rabbit is a dilute sooty fawn (which would have blue gray eyes rather than the sooty fawn's brown eyes), so the color would be called Beige (blue tort in the US).

Is the butterfly because of the nose? One of my kits has a nose with similar markings. In NZ we don't have many names for colours - anything that has the fawn on top and the grey down the bottom is a sooty fawn. If it's light then it's a dilute.

Would I call that nose marking on the right a butterfly? (sorry to hijack the thread)

They are great! Three have gone to their new homes. One boy went to a vet nurse who already has rabbits, two girls went together, two boys will be going together tomorrow and one boy and one girl still livng with me - and I wont mind if they don't find homes :D. I have some pictures on the other computer of them which I will post later on a new thread.

Teehee. His paws are actually more green in real ife! I was told this was from running on newspaper in his foster home, which was only a day before i collected him.

I DO have super powers, and maybe i will show you sometime!

Cute...green paws. Yes, it does discolor them. My Flower gets nice gray under-paws from running on newspaper, and they're normally perfectly snowy white! It's really cute. I wouldn't be able to tell on my Maisie, though, she's normally gray mostly all-over, the lucky bun! :)

Yes, they are called "Butterflies" because of the butterfly marking on the nose. We call them "Brokens" in the US. In some countries, they are referred to as "Papillons" (butterflies).

I would say its a dwarf lop. But it also depends on the weight.

NHD (Holland Lops) Have a morestout head I would say. A picture from the side would be helpfull to see his eyes shape and the head from the side.

I dont know too much about the english breeds..I think they are pretty similar to a german dwarf lop.

He's very cute btw. Even if you wouldnt be able to show him off...who cares. I have lots of lops and most of them are defective in some way..

expecially Salem.we would win the last price on a show..ButI find him so cute :hearts:

Totally different looking lops, notice Salems slim head andlong ears. Angel is NHD.

I'd also say dwarf lop because her ears are quite long, however I'd say she's broken not butterfly. In the UK we have both broken and butterfly, butterfly is where the pattern on the nose is one color in the shape of a butterfly but broken is when the butterfly shape has been been 'broken' with white which this bun has. Broken patterened bunnies can still be shown I think. She's gorgeous btw :)

Sorry for some reason it said this post was made today? But now it's saying it was made in 2006?? Lol, sorry for replying years later!!
