Just curious on what type of fur Sakura has. I don't have any decent pictures right now, but she is a netherland dwarf bun.

Her fur lays flat, is very plush and short in length. When rubbed the wrong way, it zips back into place very quickly. It's very silky and soft. She has a line of fur down her spine that sticks up a bit, I have read this means her fur is in good condition or something? It always seems to be there.

Just wondering what fur type I would call this. Thanks :D.

i'd say rex but i've never seen/fet a rexy bun so i'm not totaly sure:whistling. that'sjust what it sounds like:thumbup.

The Netherland Dwarf rollback coat should luxuriously flow back into position. The line you see down the back is called the "prime line."

One thing I find interesting about the Netherland Dwarf fur is that it varies. Even though it is all rollback, I have found that my two have different thickness and texture to their fur. Ronnie's is shorter, denser, and fairly soft. Billy's is longer, finer, and the softest fur I've ever felt. They even shed differently!

You'lloften find coat variations in different color varieties within the same breed. I find chestnut agouti jersey wooly coats to be very different from other jersey wooly colors. I've also seen very coarse coats in certain lines of Dwarf Hottos. Texture, density and length can vary widely within breeds.

Thanks you two, that's really interesting. Not sure if her colour changes how she feels or not, but she is what you would call blue silver marten there. I think so anyway. Either that or blue marten hehe.

I noticed that in the lops here, tort and sable feel rough, so that makes sense on the different colours having a different feel.

LBP she seems to have shorter fur like Ronnie, and I have never seen her actually moult in the time she's been with me. She was about 6 weeks old when Mathew brought her home over a year ago, and I don't recall her ever going through a moult which is odd. I have had a few hairs fall off her and get on my clothes every now and then but that's about it. She is great for my allergies as she doesn't make me sneeze like other rabbits.

:D

Some will do that. Usually rabbits that go througha quick moult etc are better to breed back you don't want to breed a rabbit that moults for a long time as it can be passed through in the litters!

If Sakura doesn't have any tort on her neck ears etc then over here anyway she would be known as a blue fox!

I am always surprised at the difference in coats my fave out of all mine is Dennis who comes from germany their rabbits have much thicker coats than ours and he is so cozy to get a cuddle off lol
