Hi I think Big Louis is starting to molt, and I was wondering would it be better to brush him or to just leave it be? And do any of you have other helpful tips on how to keep it under control and louis stay fuzzy

Brushing should help. As far as I know it will keep your bunny from swallowing fur and keep the mess down. Just be careful when you brush because they have thin skin.

If he'll tolerate it, brushing will certainly help and can be a great way for the two of you to spend some time together. Another technique that works is getting your hands damp and then rubbing them all over him.

Some people have had success using a lint brush, but I mostly just remove it by hand when it's at its worst. You don't want them to eat the hair & mess us [to use the technical term, lol] their digestive system.

For long haired rabbits the best tool you can get is a blower like those made to blow out a dogs coat at the groomers to dry it or you can even use a shop vac in reverse. This blows out the loose coat and still leaves them with their long hair. If you leave it to fall out on it's own matting could start and they could get wool block.

Brushing while in molt is the best to stop hairballs. And lots of hay and fresh water which will also help pass hair through bunny's system if ingested.

K:)
