I have two rabbits named Bugsy (Male) and LuLu (Female) and im feeding them a rabbit and guinea pig pellets from my local supermarket just wondering is there a better type of pellets to use?.

P.S Will be uploaded picture of them today or tomo :D

*Yay for bunny pics!*

I use Purina Fibre3, which is a really good but isn't timothy based. A good timothy based one is Oxbow (VERY good pellets, however much priceyer) I'm about to switch now from Purina to Nutrena because our feed store stopped carrying the purina pellets. :( I was really sad since those had been really good pellets.

Your feeding your rabbits guinea pig food. It's not good for them to eat that. Too much of something in them (I can't remember off hand what it is though)

Not sure what kind they sell in Australia, Oxbow is quite good if you can get it there.

Susan:)

Guinea pig food has added vitamin C which isn't necessarily good in excess for bunnies. Guinea pigs can't synthesize it themselves so they need it in their diet.

I am feeding Layla purina since she is a growing bunny (only 3 months old) but when she hits 6 months I will start the gradual switch to Zupreem Timothy. Oxbow, as others have said is a good timothy based food as well.

If your bunnies are under 6 months (or 8 months-1 year if larger breed) then they can be fed an alfalfa based pellet like purina. If over that age, they don't need as much calcium anymore and should be switched SLOWLY to a timothy based pellet. Good luck!
