So I've been wondering what type of lop Polly is. She's about 5-6 lbs so too small to be a french really but the rescue said that's what she was. Is she really a mini lop or just a mix?

The smaller lop breeds generally have very wide, massive-looking body type, so I would guess that she is probably a lop mix since she's narrower and more "dainty". Her color, orange, would be a bit more likely out of Mini or French Lops, but it's not rare in Hollands either (just not as common). Since her ears are comparatively short to her body/head, I'd say more than likely a Holland or Mini lop mix.

I wouldn't confidently give you a guess more specific than that, but for what it's worth I lean toward Holland Lop mix. :)

I thought Holland lops were the smallest? Isn't she a little big to be a Holland?

She appears to be a mix of more than one breed, so size wouldn't be a very reliable indicator. Dwarf breeds, like Holland Lops, don't always inherit the dwarfing gene. They can be as large as 4-6 lbs. without it. Plus if she is mixed, she could weigh even more depending on the cross.

Her features just appear more Holland-y to me, but like I said, that's a stretched guess. I think it's safer to stick with "most likely a Holland or Mini lop mix."

OK cool. So definently not a French right? I was just curious bc I didn't think she was big enough to bea french.

Thanks! I know she's so cute. I don't understand how she could stay in a rescue for a whole year :(

I can't say definitely not a French Lop mix since we don't have any background on her, but I don't suspect that from the photos provided. With any mix, the size of the offspring can vary greatly, so it's not necessarily that. But her proportions don't seem indicative of a French Lop mix.
