I am about to buy a Cat and obviously need onethat will love Bobby and Tilly as much as I do. I have found awonderful rescue centre but should I get a kitten or an older cat? Maleor female? Any advise?

When introducing my dogs to my ferret, which Iknow is different, but still somewhat similar, it was much easier tointroduce the older dog than it was to introduce a puppy. The puppyjust wanted to play and bite and wrestle, and the ferret justifiablydidn't care for that.

I feel like a kitten may be the same way. Playing a little to rough forthe bun... but with an older cat you might also get a kitty who isintolerant. But if you talk with the rescue I'm sure they can recommendan older cat with a mellow personality. That's also the benefit ofgetting an older cat at a rescue. They know the kitties' personalitiesand can help you find one that's right for you!

I had both and I found it easier for thekitten to adjust to Apollo than for Shadow who was already 3 years old.It was also easier to modify Patches behavior when interacting withApollo. After a month They were the best of friends. They would evengroom each other which was very sweet.

I think it's all in how you handle introductions and playtimes. As long as no one is allowed to get rough in time it can be veryenjoyable to watch them together.

I would go for akitten only reason being adultcats tend to hunt more ,and generally cant be broken ofthe nasty habit , with a kitten you havebetter controll over t he hunt instinct , Where asnot knowing the history behind an adultyou may be setting yourself up forheartbreak JMO

My one yr. old cat we got about a yr. ago gotalong great with my animals. Still trainable but not to hyper so as torough house with the buns. And she still played with the buns only whenthe buns wanted to play.

I think you should get a tortishell or a Calico. I have kittens that Iam giving away when they are old enough if anyone wants one. (thoughlocated in Texas)

What about a Ragdoll cat? My ragdollis nice to my buns, but kinda shy around them. He has neverseemed aggressive with them. BUT, I still wouldn't leave themalone.

Well we've now got 2 rabbits and 2 kittens. It has to stop here!

We went to the rescue center and the totally railroaded us into takingtwo kittens :)Was funny as soon as we mentioned having houserabbits the women at the center seemed thrilled and told us we werevery enlightened. They said that they only adopt out their rescuebunnies if they are going to be house rabbits and not to children.

Anyway, we now have Delilah a calico and Stanley who is black andwhite. The bunnies love them and were very interested. The kittens liketo sit slightly higher and watch the bunnies but have sniffed them abit.

I'll keep you posted.
