when we make jack and hettis bed we put a layer of newspaper down followed by a layer of sawdust and then a layer of hay.

Jack uses the shady bit of his hutch as the toilet so i put down more newspaper to soak up his wee.

However, hetti has decided to completely trash both hers and jackshutches..pulling the newspaper on top and tearing it to shreds...isthis nesting or being an annoying cow.

If its the annoying bit does anyone have any suggestions?

If its the nesting thing what should I do? Jack fires blanks so shecant be pregnant but i have no idea what a phantom pregnancy is or howto deal with it when it happens.

I have paper down in my male rabbit, Cosmo'scage...he looove paper, he'll tear it to shreds...I think she is justbeing a regular destructive bunny....

however, is she spayed? are you trying to get her pregnant? Do you suspect that the two have mated?

she was not spayed but he has been neutered so nobabies (thank god) I did wonder if she was just being a nuisance now Iknow lol....

If the doe isn't acutally 'making' a nest with the newspaper then I think you are fine!

I've got a buck that chews his ID tags up. What a naugty littleboy because they are make of plastic. These ID's are attached to thecages with a snap that I have troubles snapping sometimes myself. Welllast night I found his "Take Me To The Show" tag all chewed up andinside his cage! Maybe he is telling me he doesn't wanna go to the showbecause 'Take' and 'Show' are no longer readable. LOL!

Hmm..well, since she isn't spayed, she could begoing through some hormonal behavior...she may be going through a falsepregnency (which you can find lots of information on if you do somedigging through the forums, someone posts about it at least once a week)

sounds like she's frustrated that she can't have babies and it's aboutthat time...this could also frustrate the male, even though he isaltered, he can still sense that she isn't and this could really get tohim over time...

Is she just 'shredding the paper' or is she actuallygatheringthepaper into a location? If she has hayat aneasy location, most does would rather use hayover newspaper as a nesting material. Its possible that shecouldjust have nothing to do so shesdoin' a littleredecorating. ;)How old is thedoe?

no she is just shredding and scratting and being a nuisance, i wouldntmind but its jacks loo and we dont want the wood leaking through to thecarpet :(

will just have to put up with it i suppose

I have a male bunny who loves to shred newspaper.I leave some around for him to play with. The girls don't seem to beinterested in it the way he is. I don't know if he does it for hisnails or if he likes the noise it makes or what. I know it keeps himfrom doing the same thing to the carpet, though.

Maybe give Hetti her own paper to play with? Then maybe she'll leave Jack's alone.
