I've read in many places that rabbits don't have the nurturing instincts that a cat has (for example).
Our doe is very attentive to her kits.
She nurses them not just once or twice, but throughout the day.
She is always preening them, licking and cleaning.
She gathers them up (there is only two) underneath her.
She "lays" with them a lot.
If the kits are out of the hutch, she's nervously watching near thedoor. When they return shethoroughly checks themout.
If someone comes near the cage and she's not near her kits, she rushes over and guards them.
Is this unusual? Everything I've read seems to contradict what I'm seeing.
