Maybe a typo for English Spot?

I think sports have more colour. Like an English Spot should only have the spots along the back, whereas a sport would be are more solid colouring (some look brindle). It goes for any marked breed I think.

In marked breeds such as english spots, rhinelanders, and checkered giants they have three different kinds of babies. Marked babies are those that have the typical markings of that breed. Charlies are ones lackingthe side markings most commonly. And Sports are solid colored babies of that variety in the breed. Someone posted a picture of sport english spot babies and ill try to post it sunday when i can get to a computer

Thanks, Sarah! I know they use the term Charlie a lot in the lops, when the babies are almost completely without markings. But sport had me thrown. At first I thought it was a typo, then saw a breeder I know use it so figured it was something else. LOL

I don't know if the meanings are related, but in the plant breeding world, a sport is a plant that exhibits an unusual characteristic [probably due to a mutation]. So plants breeders have sports pollinate each other & new colors, sizes, or whatever are created.

Yea if you look on spot breeders websites they will usually keep track of how many marked, charlies and sports they get when crossing parents. Sports and charlies i think can still be used in a breeding program

Ohhh that's interesting. Thank you pam for putting that in. And makes sense why they call totally colored spots sports
