What is Max trying to tell me when she jumps up on my lap, and then starts digging on me?? She does this all the time, and it's getting a tad annoying (not to mention painful. LOL). I was trying to figure out what she was trying to say, so I could then find a way to say back,"Enough is enough." :)

Does she have a dig box? If not, it sounds like she wants one. If she has one, my guess is that she wants your lap to be smoother or that she wants the chair to herself.

Rupert's head-butting is hello. And maybe also, follow me.

She has boxes to dig in. I thought maybe she was going to make a comfy bed on my lap. Which might not be bad, if it wasn't followed by a nip or two as she's adjusting my shirt. LOL I'll just keep telling her NO, and pushing her away. Max is gonna be the death of me yet. haha

Dobby does that, digging in my lap, to get comfy to lay down. Rearranges everything so that he can be comfy. Got him to stop the nipping. Now he just digs a bit and lays down. No harm done.

K:)

I watched his ritual. He would dig, smooth things out with his front paws, then nip. Now when he's smoothing out, I'll say NO nipping. He usually looks at me then settles down. When he did ignore my "be nice", it was back to the crate.

Smart bunny. He now has the same ritual to relax on my lap, less nipping.

K:)

For Q-tip the digging usually means either "your lap's bumpy. I wanna fix it" or "come on....stop doing homework and play with me!"

Cookie def digs at me when he wants attention! And he can real hurt, he's broken the skin a few times, threw my pants! Lol but a few days ago he surprised me with the digging and I squealed real loud, because it hurt... And viola! He hasn't done it since lol I will def try squealing again if, he try's it again... But I don't think he will lol

what i've been heard is that if your bunny hurts you or nips at you, you let out a loud screech or squeal (not so loud that you don't terrify him or give him a heart attack). by doing this the bunny knows that that he harmed you since that is what bunnies do if they hurt eachother or themselves; they let out a squeal/screech

Well, when you squeal or screech, she just bites again...harder. She spend more time in her cage today than she ever has. I made the mistake of eating a banana (which she, until this point, wouldn't touch). Well, I gave her a bite, and she ate it. And, apparently, liked it. Because when it was gone, she was trying to get in my mouth to get more. LOL Anyway, she bit me, hard. Not enough to draw blood, but I have the bruise to show for it. So off to her cage she went, and I've been ignoring her. :(

S.D. has never bitten me, but when he's misbehaving I clap loudly or stomp my foot and that is usually enough of a deterrent for him. I've never tried making a squeal or screech.

Horatio does this too! And I have really noticed it come up suddenly since his hormones have kicked in. He isn't rough and doesn't hurt, but when I nurse him he loves to dig at my shirt and then if he is up higher he will chew and chew and nip at my coller of my shirt! He just loves it.

When he digs I say NO and if he hits my skin bu accident I say NO too and hold him away from me so he can see I am not happy. He usually stops after that or I just nurse him on his back instead.

I'm glad other people have this 'problem' with their bunnies! Our English Angora does it but it's more of a 'I've had enough cuddles, I'm going now!' kind of thing rather than digging to show love and keep cuddling :p
