I would like some ideas. I am planning onbuilding a nice cage for Smudge and was wondering what to use for thebottom of it. It is going to have a pan bottom (no wires on the floor,I just dont like the idea of it) that will slide out. Right now I havea Patio home right nowhttp://www.petsmart.com/media/ps/images/products/detail/large/i/inP0/inP019635large_e07b.jpgAnd put a towel at the bottom. He tears the towel up which I do notfeel is safe for him because of the fabric. I do not want to useshavings because he is potty trained and the shavings are so messy.

Any ideas about what to use would be great :)

Now, testing out my carpentry skills is another story

i use a spray which cleans the lot and it getsrid of mits, fleas, ticks and all sorts of bugs i think its gr8 i wouldnever change it i use a different one on buttons cage due to that on(spray) cant be used on cages so i use the same brand but in a bottleand you poor a little bit out! and scrubb!! hehe

Stanley's cage has no bottom, it's just my floor.

I don't really have a better picture sorry. :)

I use carpet samples that I get at Wal-Mart. Two in a package, for less than $4.
Comfortable for the buns "delicate" footsies, easy to clean (vacuum), and cheap
enough to throw away. Each one usually lasts about 2 months, some longer (it
depends upon the rabbit). I also buy their cheap door mats ($2.50 & $3+) for
some of my rabbits. They come in 2 sizes, in green, tan, & blue. These have a
hard rubber backing that my Mitzi loves to shread! Charlotte

I use newspaper in Chinnys cage. I just put downlike 4 layers or something. She seems to like it. And she can tear itup and i dont have to worry so much

Stanley looks so beautiful! :)

We put this sliding tray in Emmy's cage. It's not exactly a slidingtray. It's just a tray for her to lay down in so she wont lay in herurine and poop.

I use indoor/outdoor carpet for mine.It has a rigid backing. They love to lay on it and luckilythey don't eat it. I can clean it with the hose and let itdry when it's needed. I vacuum it every week. Ipaid $3.00 for a large piece at Home Depot and cut it to fit with autility knife.

I took the carpet out because it was gettingdirty. I could easily replace it with another, butI used the ceramic tiles instead. Thetiles is not a slippery as the plastic cage bottom and itfeels cool to the touch.

Rainbows! :)

you can try some of those straw mats from PetCo. I have even seen natural untreated bamboo tablemats at WalMart.

Like Ellie, i also try to use onlywire floored cages. I do have one cage that has a solidfloor, and i try to clean it out twice a day and i strip it every fourdays. Right now, i also have a bunny in the house.I keep her in a pet taxi, as those things are near indestructable and ihave a pit bull, a rat terrier/toy manchester cross, and another muttpuppy in the house. I clean that out morning and night.
