My god-son dawson is getting baptised(sp) next month, cant remember the date but i'll get that off my brother, again, tomorrow.

Anyways, what do I wear. My mom said absolutly no pants, must be a dress. But what style? are there color restrictions ? :?What about shoes ? =S

Pictures would help. Btw, NO maxi-dresses.. their ugly =D

I also found out, because im the god-mother i'll be holding him through the whole ceremony, so i'll change my earings, and put my hair up or something of that sort.

Oh, and he's wearing my brothers (his dad) baptism outfit. Just found that out today...bringing it to the dry cleaners soon.

Just a nice dress hon. Nothing revealing. As long as it covers all the parts shall we say and is tasteful you should be ok. I wouldn't wear heals that are higher that what you can comfortably stand in for an hour or so. And you don't say how old he is but I'd watch what jewelry you are wearing so that a slightly bored baby doesn't break a necklace on accident. Remember you're going to be in a church so just appropriate church wear dress wise is fine. I'd say a nice pair of dress pants and blouse would be ok, but since mom said absolutely no pants then that solved that suggestion.

I was thinking something like these - not navy or black for a summer baptism.

No offence, Pam, but those aren't my style.. I mean, it would be a total shocker to everyone there since im not big on patterns, heck, their lucky im even wearing a dress... I opted for dress pants.

From experience I'd stay away from strapless. Even with a cardigan you take the chance of a "mishap". Maybe something with a thin strap. Not sure what kind of church its in but I know when my sons were baptized the godmother was required to wear a dress with short sleeves or longer. Now granted that was 18 years ago, but you might want to ask at the church where its taking place what they consider appropriate.

Haha, I have erm, bit taa-taa's so I don't think any mishaps would happen =P

I'm not to sure which church it is, but if I wear a strappless, and a cardigan I won't be the one under dressed... his momma will be. Thats a fact. If she can tell me to wear leggings and a t-shirt then i'm frightend to see what she thinks is appropriate for herself to wear.

Personally, I would never wear anything strapless inside of a church. I wear a T-shirt and jeans to mass all the time, so for me it's not about being formal but about being respectful.

For a baptism, particularly one where you'll be playing such a key role, think Easter dress, or maybe something like a nice skirt and top. I probably wouldn't wear heels, especially if you'll be holding the baby for so long. Some nice sandals might be appropriate though.

I don't know if you read, but i'm going to put a cardigan ontop, something like this. and I'm not allowed to wear a skirt :(has to be dress. Because if it was a skirt I wouldn't have this problem :p

I think that part was understood (cardigan). I thought you wanted suggestions?
I, too, wouldn't wear a strapless- no matter the size of your ta-tas holding a baby can bring that dress down and then everyone will see the size of your ta-tas... Now that would be embarassing.

Ok I'm going to work my way up. With Church and everything else in mind.

Shoes-Cute little plat

The actual dress- safe and stylish!

Leggings- There leggings lol!

Necklace and bracelet- The same for the bracelet

And maybe have your hair in curls down!

I know It is kinda for young girls but it is nice and no church can complain.
Wow, Paul- next time I have a fashion crisis I'll come to you! That outfit is really nice!

If it was me, I'd wear a summer dress- something definitely with maybe a wide shoulde strap (like the others said, dress appropriate for a church- even if others may not), probably about knee-length, maybe either in one nice summery colour, or a not-too-fussy pattern, with some cute sandals, with either a flat or low heel- I guess it depends on whether you're used to wearing heels or not though...

You have to show us what you decide!:)

I think the dress you suggested Brandy is gorgeus...errm in church over there do you have to be really covered up? Over here for occasions like baptisms, communions, confirmations etc. in the Summer, young people always wear strapless dresses a little above the knee :?
