I'm not sure if this is the right section of the forum to post this in, if not then just let me know. As some of you saw in my other thread I am new to rabbits and recently adopted my first one on Halloween. Bear is a one-year old male lionhead. I'm wondering what his color would be called. I have gerbils as well and there is a gerbil color known as Burmese, which you can see here in my Alvin:

Basically it's black with a color lightening gene, creating darker points and brown color overall. He does not have a white underside, which Bear does not have either.

Would Bear's coloring also be considered Burmese, or is that unheard of in rabbits? If that's not what color he is, then what would you call this? As I said I'm very new to rabbit ownership and I have little to no knowledge on colors/breed standards etc. Here is a photo which shows his color (also my avi thing):

Thanks in advance :biggrin2:

I say tort too. Torts are a shaded color meaning they have points. Torts will have an orange body color with black blue chocolate or lilac points with shading on the flanks. Yours appears to be a normal black tort but you can just say tort for short

Burmese is not a color in rabbits but there is a color very similar to it called Siamese sable. Rabbits genetics are fun but oh so challenging also
