I was checking out Salem's chin, and I noticed that his chin is orange. Does that make him a black otter, or is he still considered a solid black? Both of his parents were black otters, as well as his grandparents and great grandparents.

Looks solid black to me. Black otter would have lighter rings around both eyes, under the nose and chin, and a white belly. Here is a picture of Ronnie for comparison (he is a blue otter):

He is definitely not black otter. He is probably either a black self or a dark sable, and with some faded fur like that I would be thinking a dark sable, I think.
