What breed(s) are my bunnies?

Here's Erin,

And here's Noah and his brother, we were told that they were rex (or mini rex?)

All pics were taken when the buns are about seven weeks old. Noah is now a bit older, Erin just turned seven weeks.

I thought that she was a dwarf. I just wasn't sure. I got her from a store (very good store who only gets their animals from breeders, small community here) but they had her in with a mini rex I'm sure, and she looked so different than it, and she looks so different from the boys.



I'm not planning on breeding or anything (because I don't know enough about it) but, breeding a smaller breed rabbit to a larger breed rabbit, is really really bad isn't it?

I honestly do not recommend mixing rabbits on purpose. matting a larger breed male to a smaller breed female can be dangerous for a female not just from being mounted by a larger animal but they can also have complications during pregnancy.

I don't think those are mini-rex. They have fly-back hair. Mini-rex have hair like velvet. It sort of stands up. It's completely different (rex and mini-rex) than other rabbit fur.

that's what I thought. Some other people were telling me that it was perfectly fine.... but I definately didn't think so. You just comfirmed it.



So, what may the boys be? I'll try and get a better picture of Noah later..

I would say the Orange girl is a Holland Lop mix, she just has a Holland Lopmix look going on in my opinion. The Tort and Sable Point look like Mini Rex mixes, possibly mixed with Holland Lop. They have a bold look going on and since Holland Lop mixes seem to be so comman that would be my guess. :biggrin2:
