I searched for a "central thread" on this subject and could not find one, so I thought I'd start one.

I have one to start:

http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=5374222

This mama rabbit and babies were seized with sixty other bunnies from ONE home.

The info said most of the rabbits were medium sized (6-8 pounds) and agouti colored.

I want that baby that's pictured with the mama. I may foster a couple of these cuties.

Any ideas on the breed?

Laura

The agouti color is present in many breeds, including breeds that it's not accepted in such as Polish, NewZealands, Americans and many others. Knowing the weight couldhelp us venture some guesses, but actually being able to examine thetexture and density of the coat would be of immense help. Asofter rollback coat could indicate a lop or dwarf background, where arollback coat points to such breeds as Dutch, New ZealandorFlorida White.

Because that particular color exists in so many breeds, and the rabbitsare of medium size, they could be a mixture of just aboutanything. Could even be San Juans bred for training beagles.

Well, if it helps any....

The mother and the babes look like a cross we've done for meat pens. What we did was crossed a Red New Zealand with a Copper Satin. Theyusually end up about 9 pounds and agouti with unusually good ringcolor. I just thought it would help....

We also did the Copper Satin X Californian cross and they were a dark chinchilla.

It is very cute -- looks like a himalayan colored NetherlandDwarf. Californians are the same color, but are a largecommercial breed. There are a number of breeds that have thesame markings.

oh thanks Pam, i'm still trying to figure out colours and markings

Please can someone help me identify my bunnies?I know they are definitely crosses of certain breeds but it would benice to know what breeds they may have originated from

They may have come from lop crosses.Twinkle is a "butterfly" (called a broken in the US). Becauseshe is lightly marked, we'd also refer to her as a "charlie".

Benjamin is a chesnut agouti.

Oh my gosh....They're all so gorgeous!
I think I'm in love with Benjamin! What a handsome boy!

I have no idea what sunny is, other than knowing she's a mini lop.

I love her blanky also ;)Sunny may actually be a Holland Lop. Her color is tortoise.

Actually, it's a fuzzy teletubbies baby's chair. My daughter's. Now it's the bunny's, like everything else she decidesis hers. :bunnydance:

A Holland Lop? Yeah?

I do love her colouring. It's hard to tell in the pictures but her ears and some of her face looks almost lilac coloured.
