Hi all, I suspect that my new lil furball is a blue Netherlands dwarf but I think her nose looks a little to long. Is she maybe a mix? She is six weeks old, I got her from a reputable pet store. We are in South Africa if that helps at all?

Your baby's ears seem a bit long for a Netherland, but it is a little bit difficult to tell when they are so young. Wait a little longer to see how big she gets, that will give you a better idea. :)

Her color is a bit hard to tell from the pictures, but I think she actually looks like she could be smoke pearl. This color will often appear "smutty" as a baby and then will molt to a nice blue/gray shaded color as an adult. Again, that's a wait-and-see thing.

Thanks for helping, I'll put up some more pics during the week. She is sooo cute, today as she flopped onto my bed I heard her getting the hiccups  every time she hiccuped she'd make a tiny little squeak lol

Ok she's alot bigger now! I now think that she might actually be a dark smoked pearl mini rex. She Is about 8 weeks old now

Her ears are definitely longer than netherland but when she was younger I would have said nethie. She definitely doesnt have the mini rex fur but that doesnt mean she isnt a mix of one.

PLEASE BE AWARE there are different breeds all over the country some that may only show up in certain parts so looking at just ARBA breeds might not be very helpful. I would just say a mix because there are no true differentiating characteristics of your baby. Also at 8 weeks old most breeds look the same. You might wait until shes older to get a better answer or she could just be one of those I have no clue but she is cute kind :)

Ok I've been doing some more research and found out that we have some silver fox breeders in the area, and that her fur, so far, has the same properties as the silver fox, it does not lie flat after being brushed the wrong way unless brushed right, and you can notice in the 3rd and 4th pics that she is getting the little white "flicks" in her fur. Anyone agree? I'll try add more pics in a few minutes, if I can get her to sit still

I'm not sure when the white flecks start showing up, but right now she does look like she could bea silver fox. I'm not familiar with the breed but based on the pictures I found of the breed I certainly see the similarity.

Thanks for the replies, I read somewhere that the white flecks can start as early as 4 weeks and the whole thing lasts for 4 months. I hope she is a Silver Fox as I heard that they are really rare baunnies, and have awesome personalities, which my little one is not lacking in, she is really friendly and loves being around people. Is there by any chance someone on the forum who has a Silver Fox that we can compare her to?

If you can wait a week me and my mom are going to the American Rabbit Breeders Association Convention and there will be some there I can get pictures of for you. I do know that they are pretty big buns With a max weight of 12 lbs. if yours doesn't get bigger than 10 lbs I'd say she isn't one

oh cool, that would be awesome! Thanks! Does anyone think a Sliver Fox dwarf cross would keep the silver fox fur? The reason I ask is because the pet store was selling them as dwarfs. So I think she might be a cross. Sorry if I'm going on about it alot, I know she is still a bit young to tell, but it's just driving me nuts trying to figure it out, hahaha.

Just depends. If the mom were a silver fox and dad was a dwarf then it might be more likely. This would also probably keep your bun's weight/size smaller than a purebred silver fox.
