Hi guys. I first want to say that I love the forum. It's awesome and I get a lot of knowledge from it. Now here's my problem. I have 5 rabbits all together. Skylar (female) and Thumper (male). I want to know what breed they are because they have 3 new buns that will 4 weeks old on Sunday. Here are some pictures.

These are their off spring.

Here is Mom.

And here is Dad.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Thumper is a Mini Rex. The doe looks like she might be a Holland Lop with a lot of earcontrol.

The babies look like my baby Holland Lops ;)

Pam, do you think mom might have some lionhead in her? Look at that fur around her neck area. I thought the babies looked a little like lionheads.

I havent been around many babies though so I defer to Pam ;)

PS. You need to separate your boy and girl though ASAP bc they will have more babies soon. Chances are your girl is already pregnant again..

Hmm I posted on this the other day and it didn't work :grumpy:

What I said was I think thumper looks like some sort of rex but i don't know any of the others but there all really cute!

totally agree there:cool:

mom looks like a lion head cross and dad looks like a rex mix. the babies are super cute!

Did you say that the adults are livingtogether?LikeHaley said, separate them immedialty, and if the babies are about to turn 4 weeks, then your doe will be due for her next litter in a few days. She will/would be most likely to have gotten pregnant within 72 hours of giving birth, that is when they are most receptive.

I don't know how much you know about rabbit reproduction, so I apologize if you already know this. Rabbits do not go into heat like a cat or dog. They are induced ovulators, which means that they ovulate whenever they are introduced to a buck, so they can get pregnant at any time. So that means if you have a buck and doe of breeding age together, the doe can and will have a litter every 30 days. It only takes a matter of seconds for rabbits to mate, so it is never "safe" to allow an uneutered buck and unspayed doe play together.

Your bunnies are beautiful anyway, LOL. With the babies being a smaller breed cross, you will want to make sure they are separated (bucks from does) before they are twelve weeks old. Probably they could not get pregnant at that age, but better safe than sorry.

Mom and dad have not been together since we found the babies in the cage. They are spearated and will be for a while. Thanks for all the help.

The mommy does have a lion head look to her but I didn't notice it until all y'all pointed it out. The dad looks like he has rex fur. I am no expert though! They are extremly adorable though!

Yes! Now that you pointed it out, I see a strong Lionhead "look". Some Lion lines also have a lot of Holland Lops crossedin, so that's also a possibility.

I was reading that their ears can lop at anytime with steady warm tempartures. If the ears do lop can they go back to non lop?? I also see how you say lion head but I don't really see that besides in the pictures. Also Skylar is not very happy right now. We just adopted 2 mini lops and I can't get her to open up to them. She can't even look at them. I wanted to put them all in the same cage together. Now I'm starting to think not such a good idea. Let me know what you think about that one.

What breed are the lops and are they neutered/spayed?

Rabbits are highly territorial and wont just bond with any rabbit. You have to take it slow with two altered bunnies. If you just put them in together they can not only impregnate eachother but also seriously injure and even kill one another.

I would keep each adult separate unless you are serious about breeding. A lot of people dont know but there are so many bunnies who need homes (one shelter in Michigan has over 150 and another has about 700!) thats its really not right to breed them unless youre serious about getting into it. Not to mention the health risks involved and costs of vet care if something goes wrong.

I just know that they are mini lops but besides that I have no clue i do have pics that i will post if you want to see them. They are not spayed but they will be at a later date. Being as they are all females we will not have any litters of unwanted rabbits.

None of my bun's have every seen a vet. Is it essential unless they get sick? I was going to call for an appointment just to get a check up but I wanted to know what you guys thought first.

That daddy is adorable! I've never seen a castor mini-rex with vienna markings (that I can remember!) and I love him!
