I'm putting together a info sheet that consists of all my animals, their species, names, sex (altered or not altered), breed, date of birth, and color to give to vets and people. I have no idea what Lumi is and figured her for a complete mutt so no worries if no one can tell me. I know Princess is a polish but what do you call her markings? I'm guessing a broken something? I wanna put something else besides, "white with gray all over" or something else stupid.

This is Princess

This is Lumi, she's about 5lbs.

gentle giants - I think it's just the strong flash. Her fur isn't that shiny especially not compared to what I saw on google.

princess looks english spot to me, but to be that, she should be getting bigger than just this size, you know?

lumi is going to be a big bunny i think if she isn't already!

both are full grown already lol. princess is actually a polish.

Lol Zin...

Honestly, my feelings are genuinely hurt. I see other "what breed is my bunny" threads being answered so it's not like everyone's just extremely busy with important things. I've had this post up for 2 weeks now. Yeah you could tell me boohoo grow up but I think I deserve at least an explanation.

I'mses gonna put my thoughts here...

Princess looks to be (and from your description of gray and white) a broken blue in color.

Any way you can take a picture of Lumi's fur when you blow into it, so we can see under colors? That would help me to be able to help with her color.

As far as Lumi's breed (because you mention that Princess is a polish), I'm not too sure...she looks like she could be a mixed breed, to me.

But, if you could post a pic of Lumi's blown-into fur, that'd be cool. :)

Thanks for the reply Rosie but I'm having my own little pity party right now. I'll put pictures up later when I cheer up a little more :)

Not sure why you say no one replied, I see a bunch of replies :p. You know Princess is a polish and you said no worries if no one can tell you what Lumi is. Everyone seems to agree Princess is a broken blue. It's a bit tricky to see but I think she is too.

Are polish like netherland dwarfs over there? Polish here aren't as small and cutsie as Princess.

Unfortunately a 5 lb black (looks black from the picture anyways) is about as generic as is possible and really could be just about anything. The picture quality isn't great and she doesn't seem to have an distinctive breed characteristics. And it's always possible that Lumi is a 'Heinz 57' which would be almost impossible to pick out the individual breeds. Pam might be able to give a guess at some of the possible breeds but it's really hard.

I am sorry Oki.. I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings, just joking around, but yeah I see your point.. it has happened to me a time or two.
But then again, I think you and I have discussed that ad nauseaum on IM..

Yanno I luvs me some Oki...

Hey I was just thinking about you...

Toshiba...

HA

Other than that, if it's not a New Zealand, a Californian or a Lionhead.. which are all easily identifiable to me.. then I just know it's a rabbit..

Now if ever you need help with a showpig... and your showpigs innards got issues... i'm yer girl...

Rabbits aren't like dogs, often mixed breed dogs exhibit charateristics that make it easy to figure out what went into them. Rabbits on the other hand are far more difficult, their so much more similiar, and those lines get smudged quickly when their crossed out. So its not so easy to look and 'see' what Lumi is, for instance, I have one singular Harlequin doe, she's a black magpie. When I went out of Harlquins I kept her because she's a great bunny and the best mother I've ever had. Whenever I breed a first time doe I need her as backup, so that means I have to breed her to something, but I don't have a Harlequin buck. So I've crossed her to my Lilac buck, and I got chocolates and blacks, both solids and otters, that was a neat surprize. Then I needed her again so I bred her to my Florida White buck, and what did I get? An entire litter of solid blacks. I was expecting chestnuts, as most FW are supposed to be either steels or reds genetically, my buck is most likely a genetic black. Live and learn.

So its just not that easy to figure out what she is, she could be something as simple as a mini rex outcross, or as funky as a FWxHarlequin, she's a nice little black rabbit, and could be anything.

Really difficult to guess what Lumi might be. Havanas are around that size, but Lumi really doesn't appear to have the head/ears/fur of a Havana.

Mini Satins are also around that size, and there are a lot of mixes that people have produced as they introduce different varieties to the gene pool (often with the addition of Mini Rex).

Lop mix is possible - the ears appear very open and thick, and the head has a decent amount of width and a very full muzzle.

So - not much help except that I can tell you that Lumi is probably black (or seal, hard to tell by the light - a seal would have a lighter shade on the belly and cocoa undercolor).

As already mentioned, Princess is a broken blue.
