Isn't he beautiful?:inlove:

Oooooh congrats Jess! You've been looking forward to this! :pinkbouce:

He is stunning!:adorable:

What's his name?

Thanks guys!:biggrin2:He is called Oli, which is a bit of a problem as my cat is called Ollie.:shock:It's supposed to be bad luck to change a horse's name though so I'll just have to stick with it and see how confusing it gets!;)

Varna - no he's not a race horse, just a general all rounder to do a bit of everything on, cross-country, jumping, schooling and hacking.:DHe comes from a town inWest Yorkshire, we just put our deposit on him today to buy himsubject tovet inspection so as long as he gets a clean bill of health he hopefully should be arriving a week on Sunday at a local livery yard I've picked out.

And don't worry I'll post lots of pictures!:bunnydance:

Cool!! I've only ridden horseback 3 times in my life and I love love love it. Hard to do it often living in the middle of a big city...

more pictures!!

HoneyPot, I ride more times in a day for work, LOL.

Congratulations Bunnys_rule63! I can't wait to get my first horse, but I'll settle for riding other peoples fancy jumpers and getting paid for it, lol.

Not to steal your thread but I just had to share a picture of my favorite mare, Bella.

Okay, back to your horse, you must be so excited! I can't wait to see pictures.

Nadia, I know horse riding is addictive, I did it once and 6 years ago andhere I am now, a horse-nut!;)I'm going on a riding holiday today as well so I'll have double the horse pics for you all by Sunday. :D

MBB, I know I am so excited, I can't wait!! (And btw, Bella is beautiful!)

Update: Well Oli had his vet inspection on Friday and it turns out that there could be some problems.:(He has an old splint injury from when he was young which although has never caused him any problems and he has never been lame in his life the vet said that increasing his amount of work (as he isn't being ridden all that much now) and doing jumping and X country with him could cause him to go lame and that also he is likely to get arthritis in that leg as he gets older. Also because of this it is unlikely that any insurance would cover that leg, so if he were to injure it we would have to pay for it ourselves. Needless to say I am devastated.

We are waiting to get the full vet report mailed to us then talk it over with my livery yard owner who is very experienced at buying and selling horses and see where we go from there. I was so upset when I found out, Oli is such a lovely horse and he was so close to being mine ( he was due to arrive tomorrow). I doubt I will find another horse as perfect for me as him, I just hope everything turns out for the best somehow but I am going to have to make some difficult decisions regarding him in the next few days.:(

Oh no Jess, I am so sorry it's not working out for you. :(:hug2:

Good luck, even if you can't have Oli, I hope you get a perfect horse for you.

Sorry the vet check didn't go well. At least you got it, so you know now rather than later!

I say, chin up... there are tons of horses out there, I know it's hard to be patient, but you WILL find another just as good, if not better, without the injury!

EDIT TO ADD: don't settle on a horse that's less than perfect for what you want. If so, you'll only be upset later. Hold out for the horse that fits you and what you plan to do with it.

Jessi

Thanks Michaela and Jessi.:groupparty:It's just annoying because in my head he was already my horse then this problem comes along. I just wish the vet report would arrive soon, waiting is the hardest part! And Jessi you're right, I almost didn't have a vet check but I'm so glad I did now, it would have been awful to get him home then have this crop up a couple of months down the line.:?

Thanks Pet_Bunny.:)Yes his owner knew about the old injury and she did tell me about it before I decided to buy him however she didn't know about the problems to do with it so I felt it was bestI tell her as she is still his owner and she deserves to know. However she doesn't seem to think of it as a problem because he has never gone lame on it before,:? although this is reassuring I'm waiting till I can fully talk this over with the vet before I make any decisions.

Thanks for the support guys, I'm feeling much better about the whole thing, it's just the shock at first - honestly I never thought he would fail the vet check!

Yep, thanks for asking.:)I've decided not to buy Oli, his vet report arrived yesterday and it turns out that he has a whole bunch of problems in his leg and his eyes so it wouldn't be worth buying him. Honestly I feel sorry for the poor lad, as he gets older he'sgoing to getlame a lot and have a lot of health problems.:(

However my stable's owner said she'll keep a look out for a horse for me, and she also introduced me to her friend who buys, sells and shows horses so he said he'd try and find me one, and also until then I can come ride one of his horses as he doesn't have anyone to ride him at the moment which should be fun, so I'm still hopeful!:D
