It never really occured to me what she wasdoing, she was behind a toy bin (WAY too much Polly Pocket for thegirls!), and the lamp was never turned on so I guess I just neverthought of it. Then tonight I went to turn the light on andnothing! My hubby thought that I had unplugged the lamp to besure shedid not do anything. Well, I did not unplugand she did do something! I started to feel up the cord andthen a very small jolt went through me (the same kind of jolt you getfrom touching a 9v battery to your tongue but no metal taste!), so Ihad hubby unplug and took a look. She had chewed through halfof the cord! Not length wise but width wise.Whenever this happened, I guess it did not bug her either, I nevernoticed any out of the norm actions. So I took the lampapart, kept the light bulb and threw the whole thing out. There I was thinking that she was one of those buns who did not chew oncords!

The rest of the livingroom is pretty safe, but to be on the safer side,I will be looking for some protective covers for the cords that arethere. There is really just one and then there are the onesbehind the t.v. I have that pretty well blocked off but...shedefinatly is one determined bunny! I think that I will alsoget some for the computer cords also. She never goes there(she does not like wood floors) but I think it would look better if Idid.

I hope you're not speaking from experience!

Oh yes, talking from experience! Igrew up with 2 older and very obnoxious brothers and I am sure thatthey probably said "try it, it won't hurt!" :XWell, no it did not hurt but it did feel really weird!ZZZZAAAPPP!

Yeah, probably could have re-wired it, but I really would rather buysome new lamps, along with some end tables, new coffeetable, and someday,a new carpet!:p

We did not want to spend a lot of money on stuffto cover our wires. For the ones that were really exposed webought shower rod covers and put it on the wires. It wascheap and effective.

I've done the battery thing =p Alsohad my hand on a metal window during a thunderstorm... (I am blondeafterall... and Polish :p)

Anyway, I actually use garden hose for my wires... not too visually pleasing, but works!

Oh, I'm glad your bunny didn't get a shock! WhenI was a teen I used to let my pet rabbit run around the house, and wewound up with many frayed wires (it's a wonder we didn't have a housefire!). Many times I did exactly what you did...run my hand along awire to see why a lamp/radio/clock wasn't working, only to get a zzzzapfor my efforts.

I've heard that some people go and buy the clear air hoses used foraquariums, slit it down the side and fit that over any wires in thehouse to protect them from rabbit-ravages...

My bun chewed the microphone cord for thecomputer and the 400 dollar vaccuum cord in various spots, thankfullyit still runs. but i had to replace the microphone:X
