Lastnight, Miffy ran across my toesand ouch, it was time to get those nails clipped! So, Icalled and made a vet tech appointment to get them trimmed. She definatly did not like the ride over there. When the techcame out, I made sure to tell her that I am not sure if she had everbeen seen before and that she did not like to be picked up.When she was brought back to me, she told me that she is a littlestressed and to try to play with her feet to get her used toit. I actually had been doing that so I guess I need to dothat some more! After I brought her home, I had to coax herout of the carrier, and she went straight to the litter box (in a wayit is kinda hidden in the back of her cage). I thought I hadbetter baby her a little and I gave her some dandelion leaves and acouple of pieces of shredded carrot. By the time I came backfrom grocery shopping (fresh veggies for her tonight!) she was out ofthe litterbox, the carrots were gone and she seems like she forgave mefor the terrible trip! Boy, what fun is this going to be,taking her to the vet for nail clippings all the time...I guess itsbetter than me doing it and really freaking the poor thing out!

I can only imagine what it would be like to have a bunny that likes topicked up, held and go for rides...someday I will have me aflemish!

Hey Hummer :)

Welcome aboard! How old is your bun? How long have you had Miffy?

Hugs! Krick

I have been around a while but I tend to lurk.I am still new to rabbits and still learning so it is easierto read what others have to say than to stick my big foot in mymouth! I think she is almost a year, she was maybe born inNov or Dec of last year. Not real sure about it, my oldneighbor gave her to me. I have had her since March and sheis real happy bunny!

hiya, seems your visit was not too too bad, and Miffyis abeautiful bunny.

When i took Kweli to the vet she got very detatched and wouldn't eatfor about 24 hours. Also the vet couldn't cut her nails cause Kwelikept kicking and scratching her. Needless to say i'm not going to thatvet again!

Good to see she forgave you. My rabbits snub me for longer than that!:p

Have you tried clipping Miffy's nails yourself? That way she can't get upset about going to the vet.

:) She'll get more used to the vet visits the more you do them as well as the nail clippings.

The first time I took Cookie to the vet he was scared out of his mind -now when I take him, he recognizes her and the vet clinic, so he justjumps all over the place like he's home and he's become harder tocontrol cause he has no fear anymore. :)

Sounds like your little girl is doing fine - nothing a bribe won't cure!

I can totally relate to this one. Just trying tocatch Jordi takes about half an hour. She's way to smart and fast forme. Then when I get her in her carrier, she's panting and won't move, and all around stressed! I've decided that even though it's a huge painto catch her and try and cut her nails at home, it's less stressfulthan a trip to the vet.

I can't imagine having a bunny who likes being picked up! Or who will tolerate it at least!

I have never tried clipping her nails, right nowI am lucky if I am able to pet her for 5-10 minutes then pick her upoff the floor 2 inches and put her back down! When I ampetting her, I do try to touch and hold her feet, just trying to gether used to it. It will be a very slow process, I don't thinkshe was held much before I got her. I know that she was inher cage with her food bowl and water and that was in it in thegarage. They had her from Dec. to March and I think she wasborn in Nov. or maybe Oct. so she did not have much peoplecontact. She is a nice bunny though, she bit me through mysweats one night but I think it was a accident! She has noproblems around my daughters and they know not to chase her, or to tryand pick her up.

(raises hand to join the ranks of those whose rabbits hate to be held)

My goodness! Having to chase the sweet little critter for thirtyminutes to catch her! At least mine can be caught easily, or temptedinto her cage easily. But she sure hates to be held, so I do it asrarely as possible. On her own terms, she'll come to me to be scratchedbehind the ears. These moments and when she does binkies and Bunny500's on my bed (the only place with traction in my tiled-floorapartment) make up for the frustration of not being able to hold andpet her.

Hummer don't worry about your foot or your mouth!
Asking and reading is the way to go, I have been here sincethe beginning of the year and I was new to the bunny world and I camehere to learn about bunnies and I am still learning, as youwould of seen everyone is friendly and helpful, so ask as much as youwant.

And if you want to know about a bunny who likes car rides,,,, checkthis out,,,,Scroll down a bit and there is Sebastian in the car ridingmerrily and happily away and if you click back you'll see him sittingin a little high chair!!!
What this bunny doesn't do I don't know, but he sure has a wonderful friendship with SLG
