I took my rabbit in to the vet last week for weight loss, small/dry poop and an inflamed rectum. They recommended I add pedialyte to her water to keep her hydrated, and she has been drinking a ton of it. I'm afraid the sugar in it has started causing some problems. She was almost back to normal a couple days ago, but yesterday morning she seemed to be in pain and left cecotropes all over the floor. I took away the pedialyte and by the time I got home from work she seemed totally fine, but this morning it all started over again! Cecotropes everywhere and red swollen rectum. She was definitely in pain, hunched up and I've never seen her chatter her teeth like that. I gave her a tummy massage and she passed some gas and seemed to feel better.
Could it still be from the pedialyte? I don't know how long it should take her system to recover from the imbalance, but I thought it was weird that she seemed so much better last night and then got worse again. I'm worried and hate seeing her in pain, I would really appreciate any advice/input any of you may have!!
