So is anyone else a member of weight watchers?

I just joined the group at work and I really like it so far. I had gastric bypass at the end of March. People tend to think it is a magical bullet, but it is not. I feel it has been an incredible tool to help me make positive changes, but I still need to make the healthy choices daily. That is where the weight watchers is coming in handy. I have others at work that I can join in the battle. It's nice not to feel alone and to have more accountability than just seeing my doctor every couple months. I like the educational part which helps keep me on track as well.

I have only attended meetings at work. Next week I have a conference out of the office so I'm going to attend a meeting over the weekend. Is it weird to be nervous? I know they aren't going to be mean, but it's kinda scary.

I would love to hear of other people's experiences with the program.

Brandy I have gone to WW meetings. You really learn alot from the meetings and hearing other peoples stories, issues,...

I really started to eat alot healthier because of WW. They have good snacks too, great recipe books.

Good Luck

Susan:)

I started WW online in march and lost about 11lbs, until I found out in April that I had celiacs disease and I needed to completely change my diet... So I had to stop WW in order to just focus on cleaning out the gluten and dairy from my diet... I'm doing great now though and considering starting again with the points system! :)

I prefer online, because one I work alot and so does my husband and so I don't want to take up more time out of the house that I could be spending with him... And two, I'm kind of an introvert so I don't really like being in groups that I don't know without my husband... And he is really to busy to come with me or he totally would :)

I hope you have lots of success and do really awesome!!! :D

Hi everyone. I just wanted to give an update because I feel like shouting to the world- I passed 100 pounds lost this weekend! I started out last November at 339, as of today I am 235! I still have a long way to go, but I am so happy to reach my first really big milestone.

I don't have any truly before pictures on photobucket, but this is from last March right before surgery.

I still don't like pictures, but Joshua sneaks them in. I have lots of photos up in my blog if you would like to see more. www.minilophop.wordpress.com

Thanks :) I have to admit to being very proud of myself. We are going to Land of the little horses this weekend to celebrate. I went there as a kid and loved it so that is what I picked for a big reward. It's fun coming up with non-food rewards :)

She's a witch. She is gross, smelly, rude, and totally disgusting. She ruins every meal and I pretty much have no appetite after a minute or 2 sitting at the table with her during mealtime. She belches, farts, picks her nose or blows it like a trumpet several times during all meals and then tells us how bad our manners are. She's been here for 17 months and has showered 11 times--only because we force her. I could go on, but my fingers would get bloody from typing before I finished. Of course she doesn't need to shower because she cleans with a wash rag. There haven't been any in her bathroom for 16 months because she was using them instead of paper and flushing them down the toilet. Most nights I can't keep anything down. Not exactly how I wanted to lose weight. Nancy and I were talking after lunch was over and I concluded that I "was fat, but happy". Now I'm neither.

Oh My  does she have dementia or something? I am so sorry you have to live like that, no fun at all! Any chance she can move out?

You are a saint to be putting up with that! I definitely could not.

I promised my father in law we would keep her out of a home. It's not dementia, she's just a selfish ass and anything she does is okay--she's been like that for 40 years that I can attest to, and Nancy can go back another 20 and concurs. She's always been selfish and "me first". I have been cooking and cleaning for her for more than 10 years and she's never thanked me once. She doesn't remember birthdays or anniversaries cause she'd have to get a card and a gift. 5 years ago for Xmas she gave me a pen from a pen and pencil sit I gave them--it was out of ink. But when it comes around, she's always ready to tell you what she wants. She fell and cracked her collar bone(why she's here now) and social security paid to have her in a rehab place for 8 weeks. They called us after 6 days and told us to come get the -----, sounds like witch. She is universally disliked by everyone in the family because she doesn't ever close her "noise hole" and talks about people where they can hear her. I don't understand how she's been on earth so long and not had the crap kicked out of her.

You are a saint for putting up with it so long. Promise or not, I think I would be sending someone like that to a home, and not a nice one either.

I have thought about karma more than once. My mom sacrificed everything for my sister and I when we were growing up. When the time comes, I will make sure she is well taken care of one way or the other. My dad, he was always selfish and never there. He had an affair and ran out on my mom when I was 2. Heaven help him if he ever needs anything in old age, because I won't.

You have done more than your fair share. It's not fair that she gets to ruin your life because she's miserable.

Larry, I can so relate to what you are going through. Had my mom off and on for 18 years. The last 5 were supreme hell. I too had promised my dad that I would look after her. In between the farts, burbs, lack of washing and double dipping into everything possible on the stove, cupboard and fridge the two of them could be twins. If I am like this when I get old, hopefully my children end my misery.
Brandy, you are looking good. You can REALLY see the weight lose now. Way to go.
Larry - have you tried listing the ----- on craig's list as a weapon or weight lose item. Possibly you could get rid of her and make a few bucks. lol

:roflmao: I love the weight loss idea! People would pay big money!

Have you seen the commercial where the guy pays the local popular girls to follow him around? Every time he goes to eat something they say things like Oh gross, really? etc. Reminds me of that tactic.

For some reason I think the bad behavior is a lot easier to take when it is dementia. Taking care of my husband's grandmother was tough, but she didn't know what she was doing. It's different when they are just a b$%*!

Brandy.....wow. Congrats that is awesome!!! 100 lbs is definetely something to be proud of!

Larry, um.......oh my gosh!! When you posted something the other day about your mil smelling better than the rabbits I had no idea you weren't kidding!!

I concur with the other posters, I can't believe you put up with her!! Can your wife get her back into a home?

Well, we were talking about maybe putting a weight loss ad in Craigslist. The problem is I made a promise and only homes with very low standards would take the curmudgeon. My kids hate her and no one in the family likes her either. I just can't see going thru life like that. She told me to "got to hell" a couple of weeks ago, so I asked her, "want me to look you up when I get there"? If it was dementia, I could tolerate it a lot easier, but she has no excuses. My grandmother was the exact opposite of her and we all loved her.

Brandy! AWESOME! I think you made great progress!! Keep it up!!! *HIGH FIVEEEEEEEE*

Larry.. so sorry man.. we cant chose our family unfortunently.

My sister has to be the worst excuse for a sister, mother, and daughter.. because of her my mom is dropping lbs like you wouldnt believe :(

Sorry to hijack your thread Brandy--congrats and keep up the good work. As to sisters, I don't know. My mother got ill before Xmas 2 years ago and passed away in March. My sister didn't tell me "because she didn't have our address or phone number". How the heck did the cards get here then? And our number is listed and all our other relatives have them as well as our E address. The real reason is she wanted to clean out the house and sell everything first. Boy, I need to get a new family!
