Anybodyhave any information on how to strengthen a weak immune system? Vitamins perhaps?

Sorry, I should have given somebackground. Iszy has a bacteria called enterobacter(sp). We think it is due to a weak immune system.I'm wondering if there is something I could give her on a perhaps dailybasis that would prevent the recurrences of the systems. :)

Probiotics maybe ? maybe abetter fiber/protein content ? HonestlyLissa I am not sure , I have heard pro's andcons' on Probiotics , from they workmiricles to they are snake oil ? I knowone thing its better to try anything thantry nothing .

Probiotics? I've never even heard of that. I'll have to do some research.

There's no easy answer because so many factors are involved, including genetic pre-disposition.

In cases of metabolic disorders, supplementing deficient vitamins/minerals may help.

In cases of inefficient absorption of nutrients (in some cases, relating to age), supplements that are easily metabolized are veryhelpful (geriatric feeds).

Stress management is also an important issue. Some we cancontrol -- avoiding overcrowding, controlling predators, eliminatingdrafts, parasite control, providing fresh water and feed, goodsanitation, pain management). Other factors are out of ourcontrol, such as seasonal weather changes and molt.

In horses, we used products such asred cell, DMG,and digestive supplements to boost immunity and stamina.

Pam , What is Your Take on " SunshinePlus " , Its a probiotic andsupplament for horses ? I wastold it is as good as "CalfManna " but has added Probiotics .

I am not sure if Missing Link makes thevegetarian formula of "Recovery and Rehab" for rabbits. Canyou contact your vet to try to order you some? If that is notavailable, just try the vegetarian formula. It is forrabbits, birds, turtles, goats, sheep, etc...

It is a powder that is mixed in with the animals' regular food. (I mix it with pumpkin) :D

Here is a link to their site:http://www.designinghealth.com/products/canine_products_main.html

Have your vet help order for you. This link doesn't talkabout the Veterinary Formula my vet ordered for my buns...might need tobe OKed by a professional...?

I'm not familiar with Sunshine Plus.

Any protein supplements (such as calf manna)are not good touse in situations where you are trying to boost the immune system, addweightor in use in older animals.

Having overdosed a pony on protein feed, I saw the dangerous effects oftoo much protein -- (accidentally scooped out the milk pellets for ourcolt and fed an entire can toour 40 year old pony who wassupposed to be given the senior feed).
