We're joining the house-hunting gang on here at the moment, unfortunately!

We've been in our rented house now for 18 months, but got a call earlier this week from our letting agents, saying that our landlord wants to sell the house and that sometime this week we're likely to get 2 months'notice to move out. Cue panic stations; I've only just come out of hospital and have to recover for a few weeks, plus the market has moved on, so to get anything the same size and quality as we've got we'd have to pay a lot more rent, and really we need more space, not less, and there's not much round here at the moment anyway, and my job isn't that safe due to the length of time I've been off sick etc....

It was all very stressful. Plus, we LOVE this house and area, and the road is great. We don't want to move!:(

But, then today we noticed that another house on our cul de sac is up for rent. We'd seen it before and discounted it because the rent was way out of our budget. We currently pay £600 a month, and can't afford to pay any more than £700, and that's a push, and the house was on at £725. Well, my friend text me this morning to say she'd seen it online for £695! So, I called up, and it's still available. We managed to get a viewing this afternoon, which evenI could make seeing as it's only across our driveway!

And OMG, I love it! The kitchen is at the front, and then at the back is a massive living room, that has sliding doors that open out right into the garden, which is quite big, and has grass for the bunnies. There's a downstairs toilet as well! Upstairs there's a bathroom with a bath and shower, and 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom is slightly smaller than ours, but it has built in wardrobes and any furniture that didn't fit could go in one of the spare rooms. The smallest bedroom is perfect for Steve to have a home office in, as he works from home a lot. The agent didn't seem too put off by the rabbits either, and was going to talk to the landlady about it when we left. The only slight problem is that there's not room for our tall fridge freezer in the kitchen unless part of the breakfast bar was taken out, or we got a separate fridge and freezer which would fit nicely under the breakfast bar. The agent seemed to think that might be ok, as they're decorating the place at the moment, and painting it all cream and white! WOO!

Sooo, I have to call tomorrow and see what the landlady said about the rabbits and fridge-freezer situation, but as long as we can get round that ok, we're going to take it!! YAY! The best part is that we still have private parking in a car port which is good cos I have a car, but can't drive it at the moment so it's off road!

Sooooo, I need you all to cross your fingers and toes, and get your buns to cross their ears (Flashy pointed out that they'd fall over if they crossed their paws LOL) for us that we can get this house. I reeeeeeeeeally really want it, it would be such an easy move, 50 yards across the drive, and we'd get to stay in the road we love, with more space, and a nicer house!:D

Eeeek! I'm so excited for the first time in ages! Send us good luck people! :biggrin2:

Jen xx

Edit: Here's the link to it online! The only difference is that all the rooms have now been painted cream, and there'll be no furniture. Our current house is a little bit to the right of that front picture!

Oh gosh, it's so cute! Can I move in with you guys? That rent seems really good, what's the conversion rate for pounds to dollars? We pay $725 for our battered old tiny 1 bedroom apartment. It's actually log construction and was built around 50 years ago. Because of permafrost, the floors are all incredibly slanted. We can't let the hamster out in the kitchen in his hamster ball or he'd roll down hill! Upstairs I had to put wood under 2 of the bed legs, the dressers and desk so they'd be level on top. Plus the carpet and walls are in bad shape (smokers lived here before). I want a nice place :) Our's will do for now and we're pretty comfortable here regardless, but we're looking forward to living somewhere bigger and nicer!

I really hope you and Steve get it! Your house hunting nightmare wouldn't be so bad after all and the move would be so easy. I do like the pretty blue wall in the living room though :)

Thanks guys! :D

Shiloh, ROFL at the hamster in his ball!! I'd love to see that... poor thing!

Erm, $725 according to Yahoo currency converter is £367 over here, and for Bristol, that's really cheap for a 1 bed flat! They normally go round here for about £500 plus, which is.... $985 plus for you guys... Our house in dollars is $1369!! :shock:Maybe we should move to Alaska lol!

I like moving house too, but only when it's not been forced on me and it's not stressful. This would be so stress free, and my dad and Steve could just carry stuff across the road, which would be great, especially if I'm still ill. Plus we'd save on hiring a van to move stuff lol! :DI almost can't wait until the morning to call them.... I'm so excited!

I hope you get your house! I can totally relate to the forced moving thing, I was evicted due to a house sale as well, it sucks.

That house looks so beautiful, and I'm going to be sending you all kinds of good house vibes!

I soooo wish you get that house! It is sooo adorable :biggrin2:.

Fingers, toes, paws, and rattie tails crossed over here :D.

Well..... We can have it!! YAY!

I called the letting agent this morning, and the landlady didn't think that taking out part of the breakfast bar would be a problem at all, so we can fit our fridge freezer in. She wasn't too sure about the rabbits, but discussed it with her partner overnight and called them back this morning while I was on the phone. And... she's ok with them!! YAY! She said as long as there's a clause in the contract that if they do any damage to the floors etc we'll pay for it, but I said that of course we would anyway. Just gotta hope Mouse and Chalk, aka destructo buns behave themselves!

I've spoken to my parents as well, and they were happy to lend me £200 towards the fees which my dad has just dropped round to me. In fact, I only asked for £145, buthe bought £200 round and said 'consider the rest a little present' bless! :)We're going to pay the fees and fill in the forms later on this afternoon when Steve gets back from a meeting he's gone to..... Oh YAY!

I'm just soooo excited! I wont be happy until we've paid the money though, which is for our credit checks, references and admin fees (ridiculous I know) because that secures the property as ours and nobody else can apply! WOOO!

That's terrific. You deserve some good stuff after all the crap!

CONGRATS!!!

I'm packin' my bags and moving there because of that totally awesome back yard! I wish mine looked like that, here....but there is hardly any grass in my area of the state.

he he, thanks guys! And Amy, yeah there's a lot of grass, but my godwe pay for it in rainfall! :(

We're hopefully going to move in on the 6th May! Woo! I spoke to the letting agent again and the land lady is fine with that, but they might want us to sign the contracts sooner, as the land lady was concerned that with it being quite a gap we might change our mind or something. AS IF!!! But we said we'd be happy to do it anyway....

Now I can start looking at furniture to buy! Yay! :biggrin2:

Our current landlord called me earlier as well! He found out that I'd just got out of hospital and felt really bad for dropping us in it lol, so he called to apologise. He said that they're having problems keeping up with the mortgage, and their mortgage is with Northern Rock as well, so that's causing them extra worry. I can totally understand that, and since they now live in Spain, it's probably wise for them to sell now in the current market if they're going to do it. It was nice for him to call anyway!

I just can't wait to move now! :D

:bunnydance:

Yay!! I am so excited for you! The house is beatiful, and that will make your recovery so much easier now.

Could you pass on the good house vibes to me now?? I want a wonderful house like yours...

How on EARTH have I missed this??? I am so HAPPY for you! Maybe you can do something to keep the bunners away from woodwork and such. How conveniant that the house is only across the drive LOL!

DO NOT DO ANY OF THE LIFTING MISSY!!! :X

Hooray! :party:This is so awesome! I'm really glad that everything is working out so well. Do you like the new house better than the one you're in? I hope it doesn't take too long to move! I would help you move if I could. That's nice that they're making it so your fridge freezer will fit in!

The rent price sounds close to what it would be over here, too. We actually got a decent price on our apartment. It is small (kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom- all are small, the bathroom is too little for a tub so we have a shower stall), the apartments we're thinking of moving to next year are 2 bedroom for about $1,100 a month. No yard or anything. That's a pretty good price for a 2 bedroom apartment around here as well! Our lease is up in May and we need to sign another one, I'm a little concerned about how much they might jack up the price then! We shall see :) In spite of my whining, we really are fond of our place, we made it look pretty nice inside and I strategically placed cute things over the damaged carpet and walls! And what with my new job less than a mile from our house, everything is really close to where we live! Paul works about a mile from here and all the stores we go to are a mile away too. Niiice!

Again, congrats on the new place to live!!

Thank you, everyone!

We filled in the forms for our references and paid the holding fee this afternoon! YAAAAY! We still have to hope we've passed our credit checks and that our references don't take too long to go through, but nobody else can get it in the meantime! I'm sooo relieved! Although I wont be completely happy until I've got the keys in my hand! :)

Now we just have to pack. Urgh. I HATE packing, I'm so bad at it, normally I leave it all til the morning and just pick up bits and throw them all in as we're moving out and thenI end up taking all the rubbish with me... This time we have to be organised and chuck out all of our rubbish before, and make sure everything's packed properly. Even though we're only moving 30 yards or so, it'll make it so much easier at the other end.... Plus I'm 'not allowed' to pack or do anything at all strenuous at the moment so I'll have to wait a week or 2 to get started.... STRESS! :p

And Bo B Bunny, no don't worry, nobody would let me lift anything even if I wanted to lol! It'll be making cups of tea and unpacking the kitchen for me lol, while my dad and Steve lift everything, and my mum directs them and gets in their way, and my dad ends up yelling at her, lol! :D

But, now that I don't need my house hunting vibes anymore, Dawn you can have them all! I'm donating them to you! :)
