I CLIPPED LULU'S NAILS!!

I know its insane to be this happy, but its the first time i've ever been able to do it without a vet! Lulu has always really hated being held. We have been working it; but to be honest it took a long time to get to the point where she could even be held safely.

So today I decided I would not take her to the vet. Instead I got a towel, put it over her in the cage then scooped her up. I think the towel really helped. She wasnt wrapped in a burrito, but it was kinda over her eyes and across her body. I just pulled one foot out and held it. She was SO INCREDIBLE. She really was no trouble at all.

She was SO much better for me than for the vet. The vet could hardly get her to calm down and she just sat on my lap.

I guess our relationship is better than I thought. I havent held her in so long, I assumed she would still struggle. <3 <3

I'm so relieved and so proud of her.

I hate nail clipping so Kirby's nails usually get kinda long by the time I get to it... :\
It works best for me when I sit her next to me somewhere she can't get away, like the bed. She usually lets me grab one of her feet and I go around til they're all done.
Congrats on being able to do it all alone! That's good news--no more vet trips for nail clipping! :D

Yay you! I know exactly how you feel! Took me sometime to figure out how to get my bun to allow me to trim nails without getting shredded in the process. I've found if I pet him for the "negotiated" time of 20 minutes and then pick him up and flip him over and hold him to my chest (I'm half reclined at this moment) then hold him for 30 seconds in this positionIthen have a 45 seconds to trim 3 of 4 paws before he "comes too"...

He hops off "foot flicking me to the nth degree."He ispretty ashamed he ever allowed me to do this - so I give him a cranberry after he calms down as "offering" for his go behaviour..

Good job! Don't be worried if the next time it doesn't "read as script" as they change up their behaviour. Keep trying as I'm 2 years in and always feel like I've "hoodwinked" my bun when I'm successful...

Congrats! I know it can be scarey. Put that bun in line, haha. I have a so chilled bun now, it's easy. But with buns that can't or won't sit still with you, it can be very scarey.;)
