What ink, as in markers, is safe to use to mark a baby's ear? I don't need it for the hotots, there is only two and I can tell them apart quite well by personality. And I can tell the two runts apart by their size.

But for the life of me I cannot tell the 4 other havanas apart. :pThere I believe is 3 does and 1 buck, but they're all so close in size and all solid chocolate, so I'd love to be able to mark their ears.

Would like a washboard marker work? I'd like to know what's safe before hand though. :)

Just had this convo on another site.

Use nail polish! There's a ton of different colors, and I /swear/ by it for my litters. (Since I'll get entire litters of identical sable points, lol.)

If you put the right amount on, it'll last for a month or month and a half. And as long as you keep them from eating it while it's wet, it's all good.

I saw in a few threads that they use Perment Marker or Nail Polish. But I dont know about a washboard marker. I dont think it will show up.. Hmm! Good Question.

Washable marker probably would be too easy to come off. Even when I use a sharpie on my babies in comes off within two days.

I use sharpie on my babies. I usually have to redo it every couple weeks, but it works.
I acutally have a buck with some red still in his ear. It's faded, but you can still tell. I will have to wipe it out before the show this weekend.
