Hello all.

This might be a really silly question but...

I have always loved dogs and I unfortunately don't have the time to have one as I am at work most of the day so it wouldn't be fair to have one. However I was wondering can I just put a local advert up offering to walk people's dogs for them? What I mean is, is that all I would have to do or is this some sort of law in which you may need a licence or something like that because effectively it is a business or do you need any (as daft as it may sound) qualifications, you know how daft the law is anything is possible. I just wanted to check before I put up a advert in the paper and find out it isn't as simple as just putting up an advert and taking the dogs for a walk.

Also how much would you charge? I'm not really bothered about the money side of things it's more a case of spending sometime with the animals and possibly getting fit at the same time. But I'm thinking if I offer my services for free no one will be interested because they will think something funny is going on.

Anyway I'm sorry for my long rambling post.. I can't stop talking once I get started.

You might need to be bonded and insured. But that depends on where you are and how many dog you will be walking. It might behard to find clients as many people would want a dog walker in the day time so the dog is not couped inside all day. There are some companies that you could work for, but it may be more full time.

If you know some people who need their dog walked when you are avaliable, then go for it. Putting up flyers in your neighbour hood and only do what you can. Start with one dog at a time, or one families dogs. Avoid walking 3 or 4 at a time.

Good Luck.

My brother has a small dog-walking business just in our neighborhood. He gets a pretty steady work load, and usually gets paid $10 per dog, per walk.

You might try startingby justspreading the word in your neighborhood. Once you get a couple of happy customers, they often tell their friends/family/etc. I've gotten a pretty big customer base for my pet sitting business just by word-of-mouth.

evening :)

You could look in your small ads becausde people might need dog walkers. Also, if you volunteer for the RSPCA they will train you how to walk a dog and then let you do that :)
