RESCUE AND FUNDS NEEDED FOR HIGHLY ADOPTABLE BUNS

Our shelter in Santa Cruz, CA recently moved into their new building. The old
building had room for 12-15 rabbits, but the new one only has room for 6. We did not find this out until trying to assemble these new (awful) enclosures. The first week at the new location, 23 baby and teen bunnies were surrendered by a single person who "accidentally" allowed her three rabbits to multiply. Due to the lack of space and general chaos at the new shelter, the 23 babies and teens are in transport cages in the garage where they are susceptible to myxomotosis with the large door being opened, and allowing diesel trucks to come in and park and/or the sweltering heat in the garage if the door is kept closed – which it often is while dogs are being prepared to be transported or brought in by animal control. Twice now I have arrived in the afternoon to find many bunnies in the garage without food or water. The staff are trying but are so overwhelmed and exhausted from the move they just cannot handle 30 rabbits right now – the largest amount we have had in the 3+ years I have been volunteering/advocating for them.

Please if anyone can offer rescue, adoptions, or local foster homes (near Santa

More info: During the past year, our shelter has had four huge confiscations of
rabbits, three major fire evacuations, a move into our new shelter building, and several huge abuse and cruelty confiscations for dogs and livestock. We still haven't lost a single rabbit due to overpopulation, and we don't want this one irresponsible rabbit owner to change our reputation for finding every rabbit a good home. We need your help to handle this latest crisis because our funds have been stretched thin during this last year. We care very much about these rabbits and are working very hard to make sure that each one gets the attention it needs, but we need your help. Most of these rabbits have already been spayed and neutered, and some of the babies are too young to be fixed. We have three gorgeous adult mini-rex females who are ready to be adopted, and a wonderful female hotot who has been with us for six months. We also have a gentle gray female lop. The babies and teens are hotot or spotted with gray, white, and brown. Please support these bunnies
during this difficult time! We are doing our best to save these bunnies before
they are PTS.
