So does anyone know how to fatten up a rabbit. Blossom is very skinny. when you pat her you can feel her ribs. I did get the alfpha hay but she doesnt seem to like it. She picks around it and eats the timmothy hay.So I try to mix it in very good with the timmothy hay and she does get some into her. I do give her unlimited pellets too. Thanks Mindy

You can give her alfalfa pellets and I would also mix some oatmeal in the pellets. Not the instant but the regular plain quacker oats. You can also try steel oats. Just a teaspoon or so. I'm sure Ms.Blossom will love them....

Thanks Fraggles. Do I get alpha pellets at the pet store? I didnt realize they had alpha pellets. So im wondering now what kind of pellets im feeding her.

They should say right on the bag if there alfalfa pellets and I'm sure you could find them at a petshop. But if not then a feedstore would carry them. There good for weight gain but after she reaches a good weight then take her off cause alfalfa has a lot of calcium in it. Fraggles loves alfalfa but she is um....plus sized so none for her lol.

Rabbits tend to be on the lean side and even at a healthy weight, you should still be able to feel their ribs under their fur. However, if all you can feel is ribs, then she probably needs to put on some weight. How old is she? Has she been checked by a rabbit savvy vet recently? She could have parasites or even teeth problems and that are keeping her from eating well/gaining weight.

Hope that helps!

I have a skinny and a chubby that are bonded. It's always a challenge to get enough food into him without her plumping up more.

He's angora so I tend to feed him treats when he's getting brushed, it helps him keep his weight up and makes him more cooperative for brushing. Oats are one of his favorites! Also plain sunflower seeds pre-shelled.

She gets more greens for her treats. At least it makes her feel special with fewer calories. Sadly bannana chips are only for vet check days and her birthday.
