I went to a pet shop a few days ago and wasoutraged at what I saw! They had a male and a female in the same cage, with the male continually mounting that poor doe! It was a small cageand she tried to run and was banging into the glass trying to get awaywith the male trying to mount! It said clearly, on the sign on the cage"Male and Female"!:X

So now I'm worried about her. I want to buy her to get her out of thatdreaful place, but I am not expierenced with the care of a pregnantdoe, I just know a little information about what I've read. I'm alsoworried if something goes wrong or she has health issues. All I wantfor her is to not be in such a stressul situation, and be in a nicequiet inviroment. What should I do? I'm wondering about if I shouldcontact a local rabbit rescue or if I should purchase her, but I don'tknow if I can cope with any worrying or stress from her. I'm veryconfused. Does anyone know what I should do?

I'm planning to go there again just to see how she's doing. I can get ahold of an extra cage, and I have plenty of food. I'm just worried ifsomething happends to her if I buy her and I'll feel terrible.

What shouldI do? Should I contact the humane society?

I'd speak with the manager of the store. Informhim/her of the situation. If s/he does not seperate them, call thehumane society, though I'm not sure if they can really do anythingabout it. I personally would not leave the store until it's all sortedout. Even if you do buy her, there's no guarantee the store won't dothe same thing again. They NEED to at least seperate them.

I agree with Shuu. I would politelyinform the store manager that the conditions for the doe are notsuitable. Do some research and educate the manager on theproper care for rabbits. Inform him/her that rabbits kept ingood conditions make better pets and therefore will bring more businessto the store. It's important to show people the positive sideof being humane, although most people understand itinstinctively. Good luck!

Ok thanks. I was planning on speaking to themanager but was too upset so I just left. I think I'm going back theretoday. I'm also wondering if they'd say theydon't have enoughempty pens for her, but that's no excuse. If that's the problem i'mgoing to buy her and maybe see how she is and see if the rabbit rescueabout a half hour away can do anything with her.

That is cruel. I always go to petland and ifthey happened to get an opposite sex pet they find a store cage andplace them in there. The biggest store cage and that is what they usealso keep on hand not get rid of the cages like that.

I would do what they all say. I feel so bad. I kinda hope you can get her. But Good luck and let us know whats up.

I agree with Shuu and nose twitch, I'd talk to the store about it and see what happens.
Some people are dumb!!!

All you will do in that caseisHope someone else wants the problem ,All this is ia a case of takingher from one badsituation and potentially putting her right into another one.

A better solution would be is ask aroundand see if someone who REALLY wants herwill buy her ,. If your willing to spend the money to buyher. It seems to me you wouldbe willing to give her a home .

Do as was suggested print off some information onProper care of rabbits and hand it to theowner , Calling the humane society orwhat ever will do nothing for theconditions she is kept in , there isno law against instore breeding , there is no abuse, no neglect in it at all, there for theywill not get involved .
