I was thinking of switching my dogs over to this, it is a lil over 1.00 a lb. Here is some of the ingredients Crude protein (min) 24%, Crude fat (min) 15%, fiber (max) 5%, moisture (max) 10%

Ingredients: chicken meal, ground oats, ground brown rice, chicken fat )(preserved with natural mixed tocopherois, citric acid, and resemary extract)

the place where i get my rabbit food sells this and another one, and they are all about the best. They only sell oxbow for rabbits and small pets, they wont carry anything that is not the best. I was asking about the dog food and was suprised that it wasnt as expensive as i thought.

Anyone use this, the other dog food that they have has lamb , or venison or chicken and stuff. I was wondering if anyone uses this and what you think

it is always interesting when people ask opinions of a product(animal food),.though i have not heard of this product does not mean it is bad,all i can say is compare ingredients to a known name brand,.and if infereior do not buy no matter how cheap it is,..with my rabbits ie,.i use only purina rabbit chow,if another pellet was advertised even half the price i would do a lot of research before feeding to my $1000.00 plus rabbits,..sincerely james waller

I wouldn't feed it. There is not enough meat in it for me. The only meat in it is the chicken that is the first ingredient, the only other thing that is close to meat is the chicken fat. The other ingredients are grains, which are not suitable for dogs.

If you could find something with at least 2-3 named meats in the first 5 ingredients it would be better.

Ok i went on the site to get all the ingredients because the one above was just a few that were on the sample so here is the rest of the ingredients.
But i dont see much meat in the ingredients.

24% protein and 15% fat is more than I feed my Aust.Shep.,he stays in good shape with 18 to 21% protein and 8 to 10% fat and the meat is chicken,if the dog likes it and controls his weight then buy it,mine goes to vet every year and if there is a problem with his feeding it's not showed.

The price is really no better then what i am paying, i am paying about 1 or a little more then that a pound and this verus is just about the same so it is not a matter of price i just wanted to know if it is better then what i am geeding them now.

Sorry, I don't have dogs but I thought I'd disagree with the number of meats. That doesn't always mean anything. And it can be beneficial to have limited ingredients and only one protein source- if the animal is allergic or has a sensitive stomach. I have to deal with this with my cats.

Luvmyzoocrew, if your dogs do need the sensitive skin formula then this other food won't do much good for them. All that fish in their current formula is providing lots of skin-healthy fats. The Verus stuff has some flax seed meal but I doubt the amount would be comparable.

my dogs have gassy butts, lol, so that is why i have them on the sensitive stomach, thier farts could clear a room, lol.

I personally wouldn't feed that food as it is mostly grain based(5 out of the first 6 ingredients!). I prefer a meat and veggie based food.

I found with grain based food you have to feed more as its all fillers, which means more output, :p There is also an increase in digestive problems with some dogs(throwing up, gassy, poop issues) as they can't handle the grains.

With my dog he used to be on a regular dog food(grain filled) and after 4 years he started to develop some issues(throwing up a couple hours after eating). I switched him over to a meat/veggie dog food and his issues went away. Also even though the "fancier" dog food is more expensive per lb, its actually cheaper per meal for him, as I feed about half of when the regular brand needed(2/3cup of the new stuff compared to 1 1/2cups of the regular food). So don't let $/lb sway your choices, you need to calculate how much $/meal.

That food doesn't look very good to me. I would definitely switch them off the proplan, as planned....proplan is a really bad food.

Have you looked into Innova Evo, Eagle Pack, and Solid Gold? I have feed all of these foods to both my dogs and rats and I have only seen positive results. I choose to feed my dog Innova Evo because I feel it is the best food for him and my wallet (13lbs for $26).
