Hello!
I know there's tons of posts and info in the help section, which I've read over and over but I wanted to ask some of my own questions about veggies.

So here's a few...

-Raspberry Leaves-
We have TONS of them! We have so many raspberry bushes! I read that rabbits can eat the leaves, stem, berry, everything, but I wanted to know how much of the leaves they can eat.

-Also, I have a Mini Rex, Domino who's about 4 lbs and also Marley, my French Lop who's probably hit 12lbs. How much veggies on average, would you say each should eat daily? I'm trying to make veggies not just a treat, but part of their diet.

-I have my newest rabbit, Dolla, who's a American Fuzzy Lop and who's probably 4 months old, can she eat veggies yet? I heard they can but I don't know for sure. Maybe just a little here and there as a treat?

-Anddd...
What veggies do you feed your rabbit? And how much and stuff? I'm almost scared to give them new things in worry I'm giving them to much of it or something!

I'm slowly working up to more veggies. Right now they get Parsley and Roman Lettuce. But I'd like to add more variety!

Hi!

According to some links I've found, including this one http://www.sandiegorabbits.org/diet/foods.html raspberry leaves are safe for bunnies... :)

As for the amount of veggies, it depends on how well your rabbits hold them. My 4lb bunny eats 1-2 cups of veggies each day and never has any problems- each new veggie has been 'tested' and introduced gradually to track any upset tummy issues, but she's never had any. Similarly, my 6-7lb buns get the same amount of veg daily as well (split into 2 servings), although there a couple of things they can't handle- baby spinach is an example, so I just stick to veg that they do ok with :)

4 months to me sounds ok to start introducing veggies, but I know that some people prefer to wait until 6 months. But, then some people say from 12 weeks they can eat small amounts, it varies from what I understand :? I'd say you can give her small amounts of things, maybe starting with romaine, etc to see how she does with them, and if after one veg she goes a day or so without any mushy poo etc, then you can try something else, etc.... Maybe someone else will come along with a different opinion though :p

As for what veggies to feed, mine get any of the following: Spring greens, kale, celery (chopped up small so the fibres don't upset them), green pepper, rocket, romaine, red leaf lettuce, other green leafy lettuce (not iceberg), cherry tomatoes, basil, corriander/cilantro, parsley, bok choi, baby spinach..... Fruits, which they get once a day as a treat are carrot, apple, pear, banana or strawberries (one of those at a time!)

Thanks! That was really helpful! :biggrin2:

I actually have this:

Printed out and stuck on my fridge. :D

In just a week Domino and Marley caught onto veggies with feeding time. Now that I started adding veggies, they will take a few nibbles at their pellets and then beg for their veggies! I do give them their veggies and pellets at about the same time (give them pellets and a few minutes later their veggies). They'll eat their veggies and then go back to eating pellets. They also have an unlimted supply of hay! So spoiled. hehe
