UVic is seeking to overturn the injunction preventing them from killing all the rabbits on their campus so they can start quickly killing all the bunnies before school starts up again.
PLEASE SHOW UP FOR THE COURT PROCEEDINGS MONDAY (Aug. 16) IN VANCOUVER at 9:45 AM at the BC SUPREME COURT at 800 SMITHE STREET!! The physical presence of supporters could make ALL THE DIFFERENCE!!
The majority of the UVic rabbits do have places to go and budgets for spays and neuters but politics and red tape are getting in the way of their rescue. The Ministry of the Environment is classifying them as wildlife and are requiring restrictive permits. Most importantly, they have been extremely slow in processing and approving the applications, leaving the rabbits vulnerable to the University's cruel 'cull'.
A temporary injunction has been in place (via advocate Roslyn Cassells) because of the slowness of the Ministry's processing time. But UVic with next to no notice is going to court to block the injunction.
