Unfortunately we've lost all but 7 of the 21 Californian youngsters. And 6 of those are ones we weren't planning on keeping. Such is the way it goes, I guess.

None of my Flops have died...yet. But Dean isn't looking well at all. I thought I was going to lose Harper last night, but this morning she had one little turd and was eating hay and drinking water. By this evening, she was hopping around a bit, checking out her neighbors and looking as well as can be expected. James needs moved to the recovery section of the barn, but need to build a few cages tomorrow. He never really "looked" sick, so somehow it bypassed him altogether. Nora's in recovery, not because she's sick but because I wanted to still keep her isolated from the main herd. Stephen was looking perkier today, and actually nibbling on some hay and drinking. He may just make it, too. Not sure about Agatha. She did move around a bit, but so far not really showing any interest in anything going on around her. Rosa's 4 remaining ones (I had sold 2 previously) are all doing well and were never affected. Parker and Jackson (the two little bucks) did have wetter than normal poops, but that was the extent of it for them.

The 5 that were almost dead at the fair are back to normal. They had lost a lot of weight but are putting it back on surprisingly quickly.

Whatever was drug home from the fair is something nobody can really put their finger on. It's not like ME, because there has never been any mucus in their stools. Just one minute fine, the next not eating or drinking or going to the bathroom. I've been giving the sick ones just about everything known to man (clear Pedialyte, Critical Care, infant gas drops, Neomycin...syringed into them). If they live long enough for it to run its course, they go back to eating and drinking and pooping. A few have had messy butts, but the majority just have oval poops...like 2 poops, but all in one long piece. Then they're fine, with no indication they were terminally sick except for being VERY skinny.

I have the sick ones in the hutch I built, that we've started calling "Death Row". Once they turn the bend and are eating/drinking/pooping they're moved to another quarantined area we're calling the "Recovery Room". NONE of them will move from the Recovery Room to the main rabbitry for at least 2 weeks after the last one has been moved in.

Tomorrow I have to build 4 more cages...then I can move Harper, Jackson & Parker (they can still room together), James, and Stephen to Recovery. Right now James, Stephen, and Agatha are in the same cage in Death Row...but I definitely need those three separated for better monitoring.

Unfortunately the others that have been having problems are still having ones get sick that were fine...and losing the majority of them. I have the best survival rate, so far, but I'm also the only one that's not in college or working...and have been tending to them every 2 hours, only sleeping around 4 hours a night. It's really taking its toll on me, but hopefully we're just about to the end.

I am glad that there is some progress being made. I know that this is REALLY hard on you. Keep it up. I hope that everything gets back to normal soon. Thinking about you and your bunnies.

Thanks, Lauren! Be what may, it's just about over. The only bright side has been seeing the few actually make it through, which has kept me from giving up hope on all of them. But it sure is rough...

It sounds viral in nature, but I have no clue what it could be. You are such a dedicated and wonderful bun momma.
 Praying for all the rabbits to recover soon
