I wanted to thank you all for listening to me freak out a little about my bunny and give an update on him.

I took him to a new vet regarding his ear not doing better. She was their rabbit expert. Muuuuuch better vibe with this place. They were able to work with me on my budget, though what they wanted to do was way more than I could afford. I tried applying for Care Credit (which unsurprisingly I was denied) and they have no payment plan. So they sent me home with new antibiotics and stuff to clean his ear and drops, just to keep the inside of his ear from getting any infections.

The new meds are working sooooo much better. The swelling has already gone down and he's holding his ear normal. No more pus. There is one area though that I'm watching carefully. He might need more done to his ear when I go in for a recheck. So I might need to sell off stuff and find some extra funds somewhere.

Anyway, Harvey is doing great as far as eating. He gets his romaine after I am done with the meds (which he hates getting). His chin turns green after he finishes eating it :p Oooh and I found out he's crazy about craisens. He's a fiend for them haha

*YAY!* Glad to hear he's doing better-I'll continue to pray for his speedy recovery!

Thank you for keeping Harvey in your thoughts. I feel like I can be a little less stressed about him now. I was kind of down because if it didn't get better I'd have to find him a new home if I couldn't get the money together.

Julie, yes! The craisens, it's the only thing he really goes nuts for. I give him some after the meds and cleaning. Haha if he ends up smelling them on my fingers he tries to eat my fingers.

Yay!! Awesome that you're giving him such great care and that he's doing so well. :) I really think he'll be okay.

Didn't want to say anything at the time but my little mini-rex Scooter had a cat bite in his ear (from attacking the cat, not vice-versa) they misdiagnosed it as a hematoma and under-prescribed antibiotics. It was swollen and red a few days later, I took him to another vet who was very concerned, gave him a shot and oral meds to take home. I got him home, gave him some parsley which he started munching down right away, but he went septic with it still in his mouth. (Which is one reason I never gauge health by appetite any more). He was gone by the time I rushed him back to the vet. :(

Thus I tend to panic when hearing about similar situations, but Harvey is past the point of having that happen to him, he's being well taken care of.

Oh wow, Sas. Scarey. I'm sorry about Scooter. Mind me asking what septic is? But yeah after that I can understand. Cat bites can be kind of nasty. I've seen what they can do to cats. My mom's cats have had an absess or two. Plus when I went to the first vet she didn't seem to care much about doing anything for Harvey. Didn't clean it, or really look too closely

Actually Harvey did start this fight haha. He was being the bossy bunny and wouldn't lay off. Until he's neutered, I'm going to be watching him very careful with the bigger cat (and after depending on how he is). Merlin I'm not too worried about, he's a big push over.

Well, keep your fingers crossed for Harvey. He finished the last of his meds and his ear is looking so much better. There is some scarring :( But he goes in for a check up on Weds to make everything is all clear. I'm ready to be done with this haha and Harvey too.

He's back to chasing the cats -_- Silly prey animal, you'd think he'd know not to chase the predator. But the cats have gotten more used to him so that's good. It's easier to stop the cats than the rabbit.

If everything is good to go, he'll go in for his neuter middle of next month. Yay! haha

Glad he is doing better. Sorry you were denied Care Credit. Maybe you can keep trying to apply for it. I hope things continue to get better for you and Harvey!

Wonderful news on Harvey! That is fantastic that he's feeling better.

Any chance your vet would let you work off the bill cleaning cages or walking dogs?

Oooooh it was a very good appointment. :) She was surprised and really happy with how well his ear healed. He didn't lose any part of his ear (which she thought would have been possible). He will have a scar, which I have cream to put on that'll likely not grow back any fur.

He's doing great. He was grumpy with me yesterday after and during the appointment. She said give him a week and he should be fine for his snip snip neuter :)

(haha and this bill was rather painless!)

Yay! that's exactly my reaction too! I was so excited while he was off getting his ear cleaned and toe nails clipped I texted my friend. And he's not even into rabbits, but he knew the whole story.
