There has been a myxomatosis outbreak on Iford Playing fields in Southbourne, Dorset. There are many scattered dead rabbits there all showing obvious signs of the disease. We have had 2 rabbits so far brought in with myxomatosis lesions on the face, luckily, these were vaccinated rabbits and will survive. We are urging all local owners with pet rabbits to ensure their rabbits are vaccinated, use vector controls and where possible, cover hutches at night, keep rabbits indoors and eliminate standing water from their gardens.
