Ty went in for his urine test and has been off ever since. The vet said the results came back with crystals in his urine so he's being limited to Romaine Lettuce and ONLY Romaine Lettuce, period.
Well, he's been sitting in his cage, not very responsive and it's been getting worse. While I was at work, my Mom called to tell me that Ty was grinding his teeth (When I got home, he was no longer doing this). I couldn't get off work but asked her to call the vet. She said that he should come into emergency, and then admitted that there really would not be much they could do right now other then take an x-ray because they closed pretty soon after. But I'm wondering if there is something they are not telling me, that maybe they screwed up with the urine test.
Ty's had the dribbling urine problem for a while, and never once has he showed ANY sort of pain, and yet right after Ty came back out from the back room, he's been listless and not interested in anything. What are the odds that suddenly, it's painful and may even be a bladder stone when there was NO sign of it BEFORE the vet visit?
Now, I am overly suspicious of vets and admittedly, do not trust them very much. We had a guinea pig that was going in for back teeth trim and the vet explained that her jaw would be "a little sore" and that perhaps they should keep her overnight and perhaps longer. Knowing how stressed she was, we decided to bring her home. They just warned us not to handle her too much and leave her be. For the week after, she wasn't able to eat no matter how hard she tried but we trusted our vet, who insisted she was fine and merely sore, and we took her somewhere else after a week and a half to be humanely put to sleep. It was there that we discovered they BROKE her JAW and were trying to hide it from us. There is no way they could not of known and if we had known that, we would have had her put to sleep and let her suffer for so long.
So yes, I am overly cautious with the possibility of a vet screwing up and trying to hide it... Is it possible she caused damage to Ty? We were going to bring him to a second vet tomorrow for another opinion.
