So in the next few months I hope to move both Briar and Quinn in together. I just have a few questions about it.

They both get out about two-fours hous a day to run around outside of their cages. Right now they each live in a NIC cage that's three panels long and two panels wide, and Briar has a second level on hers as I was feeling ambitious one day and now I hate second levels with a passion so Quinn doesn't have one. How large would a cage for both of them need to be if I was going to add a small section of it as a top floor. I was thinking of making one three panels wide by three/four panels long (I'm not sure exactly how large the space is I want to put it, Quinn's cage is up against it at an angle and I think I could make it one longer) but would that be too small for them? I was still going to make it two stories high, but making the second floor more towards the back just big enough for them to go up there and sleep, not a full floor.

How do you feed two rabbits? Briar is an absolute pig and Quinn likes to take his sweet time eating. She will sit there and devour any pellets you give her in a matter of minutes, while he will be eating his portion throughout the day and just run out a little bit before I feed him again. She will only eat hay as a last resort, he actually likes hay and will eat it no matter what I give him. They're both rather iffy on vegetables, they pick around the the dish to find what they like, but again, Briar will rip through her dish devouring what she likes and only leaving what she won't eat (or will eat as a last resort), while Quinn will just go about picking at it and eating other things too. I know she'll shove him out of the way to eat his food, and he'll just let her. I can just imagine a giant fat rabbit stomping around my room now.

Is there anything else I should be worrying about? Obviously I'm not moving them in together straight away, just trying to get prepared and thinking about how many extra grids I'll need.

I'm not sure about the feeding part. But I have a NIC cage for my 2 bunnies. My bunnies are Netherland Dwarf and NethDwarf/ Lop Mix. It is 4-5 panels long and 3 wide. and it has a second floor . My second floor is like a " L " Shape, at back of cage, up the side.

Just to give you an idea. And I feel it's plenty big for them. :biggrin2: ......April

Hi there!

Try to expand the cage as big as possible.. the more room the better! :) 3x4 makes a great sized cage with the bunnies having additional exercise. Shelves also work so the bonded pair can have space away from the other if needed.

I face the diet issue with my trio, which often leads to Bruno getting excess cecals. I've really found limiting the pellets works well with piggy bunnies. Poppy and Jasmine just had to learn to be more assertive with eating or they would get a lot less! They quickly adjusted to living with the 'vacuum'. I always feed pellets on the lower side to prevent Bruno from over eating and I try to feed after he's eaten a bunch of his nightly hay, so he's going in not fully hungry. Between the three of them, they are around 22lb in total..but only get two verysmall handfuls of pellets in the morning and evening, and so far Brunohasn't had such an issue withhis cecals. They'll work it out though! Just more of a worry of one over eating like Bruno, and then dealing with the problems afterwards!

Worse comes to worse, you can always try to feed in two bowls with one on the shelf or another part of the cage. I tried that with Poppy, since she could stand to have a few more pellets and gain a bit of weight.. but she refuses to eat unless she's eating as a group with her friends.. so just have to supplement with more vegetables and the occasional alfalfa hay treat for her!

Good luck with bonding!
